Dort’s enjoying a breakout season for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Through 22 games, he’s averaging 17.3 points with 4.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 32.4 minutes per game. Dort’s flashed tremendous upside throughout the season, as well. He’s coming off of a 38.5 fantasy point performance, and he’s scored as high as 51 fantasy points over his last 10 games.
Dort gets a great matchup against the Toronto Raptors tonight. They’ve struggled against scoring shooting guards and small forwards throughout the season, and Dort boasts elite shot selection. On the season, he’s averaging 13.7 shot attempts per game. He’s taken 98.5% of those shots in the paint or beyond the arc.
The Raptors are allowing the seventh-highest field goal percentage (66.2%) in the restricted area this season. They’ve also allowed the sixth-highest field goal percentage (35.2%) above the break in 2021. Ultimately, they’ve struggled in the areas that Dort is at his best. He’s a sneaky scoring option for Oklahoma City on this slate.
Although he’s heavily dependent on scoring, Dort has the potential to contribute in each of the other four categories. He’s an outstanding defensive option, allowing him to contribute blocks or steals on any given night. He can also add rebounds or assists each night.
Dort will be locked into big minutes, but there is one major concern in this game. He’s been significantly worse on the road, and Dort will be playing in Toronto tonight.
