NBA Jock MKT Play (1/5)

Jock MKT is one of the most interesting forms of DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite NBA buy for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for this week.

1/5 Buy

Tobias Harris, PF, Philadelphia 76ers

Highest Potential Bid: $8.00

Break-Even Point: 18

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Harris recommendations. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $8 per share for Harris. He needs to finish 18th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Harris at $8 and he finishes 18th in this field, I make my $8 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $17). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $7). It’s that simple.

Harris’ performed well for the Philadelphia 76ers through 27 games this season. He’s averaging 18.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 34.4 minutes per game. Harris’ seen mixed results in recent games. Over his last 10 contests, he’s scored as few as 16.5 fantasy points and as many as 50. He’s somewhat a boom or bust option, but he generally tends to sit in the 30s. He’s also generally locked into big minutes for Philadelphia.

Harris has seen plenty of opportunities for fantasy points in recent games, though. Over his last eight contests, he’s averaging 14.9 field goal attempts, 3.3 three-point attempts, and 5.9 free throw attempts per game. Over that span, he’s also averaging 13.5 rebound chances and 9.6 potential assists per game.

The Sixers will be playing without Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, and Paul Reed tonight. Harris will be locked into massive minutes at power forward, but he’ll also be asked to run the offense more with Seth Curry. They lead the team in potential assists over the last eight games, and this duo will be the primary facilitators.

Harris ranks 31st in Jock MKT’s pre-rank for tonight. He’s projected for 35.62 fantasy points. Harris isn’t ever the safest option, but he gets an elite matchup against the Orlando Magic. Orlando’s consistently struggled against forwards this season, and tonight should be no different. Harris also has quite a bit to prove after he was booed by the Sixers fans in his last game. I’m taking the shot on Harris’ pure upside in a matchup against his former team tonight.
