Jock MKT is one of the most interesting forms of DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite NBA buy for tonight’s slate.
What Is Jock MKT?
The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for this week.

1/19 Buy
Darius Garland, PG, Cleveland Cavaliers
Highest Potential Bid: $8.75
Break-Even Point: 15
If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Garland recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $8.75 per share for Garland. He needs to finish 15th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.
For example, if I buy 1 share of Garland at $8.75 and he finishes 15th in this field, I make my $8.75 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $16.25). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $7.75). It’s that simple.
Garland’s been enjoying an outstanding season for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s averaging 19.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. Garland’s caught fire in recent games as well. He’s scored 45+ fantasy points in four consecutive games. He also flashed elite upside, posting 60.25 fantasy points against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The big thing for Garland is his new role with Rajon Rondo out. Rondo’s missed the last four games, and Garland’s averaging 23 points, 6.3 rebounds, 13 assists, and 1.3 steals in 36 minutes per game. He’s seeing plenty of opportunities over that span as well. Garland’s averaging 103 touches, 23.5 potential assists, and 9.8 rebound chances per game in those four contests. His touches and potential assists lead the NBA over that span.
Garland gets a plus matchup against the Chicago Bulls tonight. They’ve seen mixed results against point guards throughout the season. Chicago’s dealing with several injuries, though, so this is essentially a new defense. Over their last seven games, the Bulls are allowing point guards to average 26 points, 9.7 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Garland ranks 29th in Jock MKT’s pre-rank for this slate. He’s projected for 35.94 fantasy points. He’s taking on a massive role with Rajon Rondo out, as the entire offense runs through him. Garland’s one of very few players that have the upside to lead the slate in scoring, and he isn’t going to cost nearly as much as some of the more expensive options. He’s an elite buy on this slate.
