MLB Jock MKT Plays (7/5/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

7/5/22 Top Play

Giancarlo Stanton, New York Yankees

Projected Rank: 18th

Example: If I buy 1 share of Stanton at $7.00 and he finishes 22nd in this field, I make my $7.00 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $18.00). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $6.00). It’s that simple.

I’ve played Stanton quite a bit in recent weeks and we can go back to the well tonight against Jose Quintana. He’s really returned to form this season with his usual dominant numbers against left-handed pitching. Jose Quintana has also struggled to get right-handed batters out allowing a .360 wOBA in the split and striking them out just 18% of the time. He leans on his fastball against righties throwing it over 40% of the time — and Stanton has some great numbers against heaters including a .250 ISO. New York has one of the bigger team totals on the board tonight and it’s an elite match-up for their power right-handed bats.

Value Play

Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles

Projected Rank: 55th

The number one prospect in baseball started off pretty slowly upon his call-up, but he has really got things going as of late. Over the last month, he’s up to a .342 wOBA and .241 ISO to go along with 37% hard-contact. Despite that slow start, he still has some of the better numbers on the Orioles against right-handed pitching including a .210 ISO and 28% line-drive rate. Baltimore matches up with Spencer Howard tonight, who has yet to live up to his prospect hype from his time in the Phillies organization. Over his last 130 PA against right-handed batters, he’s allowing a massive .413 wOBA and .264 ISO. Vegas is not discounting this spot for the Orioles tonight with them owning a 5 run team total — and I think Rutchman is in a great position for profit on Tuesday.
