Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.
What Is Jock MKT?
The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

6/17/22 Top Buy
Manny Machado, San Diego Padres
Potential Bid: $6.50
Break-Even Point: 25th
If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Witt recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $6.50 per share for him. He needs to finish 25th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.
For example, if I buy 1 share of Machado at $6.50 and he finishes 25th in this field, I make my $6.50 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $18.50). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $5.50). It’s that simple.

This will be no secret on Friday, but Machado is the number one buy against Kyle Freeland in Coors Field. Freeland has always allowed a ton of power to both sides of the plate, and usually relies on ground balls to get outs. Machado has one of the best fly-ball rates on the Padres against left-handed pitching, so he should be able to counteract that ground ball ability. He also has been one of the best hitters in baseball against lefties this season, with an extremely low strikeout rate. I don’t think you can find anyone else that can match this upside tonight in their match-up, especially with San Diego carrying a massive 7 run team total into tonight. He is worthy of the top price, and is set up for success on Friday.
Value Buy
Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians
Potential Bid: $3.60
Break-Even Point: 46th
It’s absolutely hilarious to see Jose Ramirez listed as a value buy, but he is extremely far down in the pre-ranking due to his match-up with Clayton Kershaw. Is Kershaw one of the best pitchers of all time? Yes, but that doesn’t change that Ramirez is having an MVP-level season and Kershaw is still working his way back from injury for the Dodgers. Ramirez ranks top-five in all of baseball in wOBA and ISO while striking out under 8% of the time this season. He legitimately might be the best hitter in the MLB right now. For that reason alone, he is a must buy tonight just due to his ceiling. When targeting cheap hitters in this format, we need guys that can realistically finish first overall on a slate and Ramirez is exactly that type of player.
