Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.
What Is Jock MKT?
The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

4/10/22 Top Buy
Kyle Schwarber, Philadelphia Phillies
Potential Bid: $7.50
Break-Even Point: 20th
If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Schwarber recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $7.50 per share for him. He needs to finish 20th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.
For example, if I buy 1 share of Schwarber at $7.50 and he finishes 20th in this field, I make my $7.50 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $17.50). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $6.50). It’s that simple.

Schwarber is my top overall buy today and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him as the highest scorer on the slate. We know he has immense power upside, and the Phillies are in a great spot against Daulton Jefferies today. Jefferies profiles as a low strikeout sinker baller, which could spell trouble against this lineup. Philly as a whole hits sinkers very well, but nobody more so than Schwarber. He owns a massive .400+ wOBA and ISO vs the pitch over the last three seasons, and is locked into the lead-off spot today. Overall, the Phillies are one of the top stacks today and I wouldn’t mind buying into some other exposure as well. Making sure I lock in Schwarber will be a priority for me on Sunday.
Secondary Buy
Lourdes Gurriel Jr, Texas Rangers
Potential Bid: $4.75
Break-Even Point: 36th
If you don’t think the Phillies are the top stack this afternoon, there’s a good chance you think it’s the Blue Jays. Spencer Howard is a promising young pitcher, but he has been overmatched as the big league level and has really struggled with power. That’s bad news against a powerful Jays lineup, and Gurriel is a good way to get cheaper exposure to an elite offensive spot. Howard has thrown primarily fastballs since his call-up, and while the surface numbers look suspect there is still reason to buy into Gurriel here. Over the last three seasons, he owns a .412 expected wOBA vs the pitch with a 46% hard-hit rate. He does have power righty on righty as well, with a .205 ISO in the split since the start of 2020. Overall, I’m buying into Toronto today starting with the cheap Gurriel.
