Spikes Core Plays (1-16-22)

Welcome to another Sunday with Spike! Hope everyone is enjoying some playoff football on this chilly day. We have a relatively small three game slate tonight and it might get a little chalky. That being said, there are multiple ways to make your lineup unique.  The most obvious game tonight is Houston vs Sacramento with an implied 238.5 point total. Needless to say, this is the main spot to attack. The two other games have some sneaky great plays too.  Lets dive into some core plays!

Guards

De’Aaron Fox has finally started to heat up the way we thought he should’ve been all season long. He is the most obvious plays for both cash and tournament plays.  With another matchup against the defenseless Rockets, he should be able to feast against a team he just ripped up for nearly 50 FP.  Another great option from this game is Kevin Porter Jr He put up 40 FP against the Kings the other night and that’s with going 1-7 from behind the arc.  If his shot can fall the upside is just massive. If you are looking to save a little salary, Jordan Poole should see his role increase with no Stephen Curry tonight. In limited run last game against Chicago, he put up 32FP in just 29 minutes due to a blowout. His matchup against Minnesota is ideal for him to have another surging performance.  At 5400 he nearly becomes a must play in cash and a great option in tournaments. Gary Payton II is questionable as of right now.  If he does miss this game, I really like Damion Lee as a punt play. He is only 3600 and comes with upside if his shot is falling.  Other players I’m considering here are Anthony Edwards, Jordan Clarkson, Jalen Green and Bojan Bogdanovic.

Forwards

This is usually a position I dislike and for the most part tonight is no different.  Jae’sean Tate saw a big raise in price tag after having a massive 49FP game against the Kings.  This is the same matchup and as long as he can avoid foul trouble again he should be prime for a similar performance.  I wouldn’t expect another outing like his last but a 40FP night is well within the realm of possibilities. On the other side is Harrison Barnes.  Similar to Tate, Barnes should see around 30-35 minutes and comes with plenty of upside.  Andrew Wiggins could become a little sneaky as his price has raised to 6600, right above both Tate and Barnes.  He might go a little overlooked and is a great play. Other plays I really like here are Marvin Bagley, Nemanja Bjelica, Jonathon Kuminga and Chimezie Metu.

Center

There are two very obvious and great plays here tonight. Nikola Jokic needs no introduction as he is arguably the best DFS player in the NBA right now.  He gets a decent matchup against Utah and is always a triple-double threat. The other clear option here is Christian Wood.  When he played Sacramento the other night he got into early foul trouble which kept him to limited minutes throughout the game.  In 26 minutes this man put up 43FP. That’s 1.6 FP per minute which is absolutely wild for someone priced at only 8000. If he can stay out of foul trouble, it’s not unlikely to see an even bigger game here tonight. Now, if you want to try and get some leverage tonight I see no issues taking shots at Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony Towns. Both their matchups are not ideal to say the least.  That being said, they will be coming in very low owned and still have upside that is worthy of being used.  Alex Len and Kevon Looney can also be used here.

I hope this helps everyone tonight and as always, lets see a lot of green screens tonight!!
