This weekend we tackle the longest race of the season and one of the crown jewels on the Nascar Cup schedule, the Coca-Cola 600. 600 miles equals 400 laps here Sunday night. On draftkings it will be important to hit the dominators correct here with so many dominator points available. On Fanduel, its important to have drivers in your lineup you know have the capability of making all 400 laps since Fanduel scores laps run as an important stat. This race also starts in the daylight and ends under the lights. Teams with great pit crews and the ability to make proper adjustments will be key as well. There are many variables to this race which makes it a great race to not only watch but play dfs as well. Watching the xfinity race we know that the high line is the place to be, however as drivers like Christopher Bell, Brandon Jones and Chase Briscoe found out that line can be dangerous.
Kyle Busch (DK $11,200 FD $15,000)
Kyle Busch is one of top drivers this weekend for both format. He starts 3rd and has the ability to get up front quick and dominate a good portion of the first stage of the race. He had the top speeds in consecutive lap averages across the board which bodes well for long run speed which will become a factor Sunday. Not to mention Kyle won this race last year and led 377 laps in the process.
Kevin Harvick (DK $10,800 FD $14,500)
If you go the two dominator route this weekend, he should be your second dominator. Kevin Harvick, not Martin Truex has been one of the best drivers at 1.5 mile tracks this season. Harvick had top 5 consecutive speed in second practice and the team itself has seemed to turn a corner after a slow start for Kevin Harvick standards. Being a seasoned veteran in this race is an important factor as well. Knowing how to pace yourself, condition yourself both mentally and physically for 600 miles comes with experience and thats what Kevin has.
Kyle Larson (DK $9,600 FD $10,500)
Kyle Larson is a supreme place differential play this weekend starting 25th. The best line this weekend to drive is nicknamed the Larson line. The high line is the place to be and anyone who has watched a NASCAR race knows how much Kyle loves the high line. Well its the fastest line, it comes with dangerous consequences. Running so close to the wall gives you little to no room for error. One mistake and your night could be over by slamming into the wall. I like Kyle’s upisde this weekend and the way he drove in the All-star race, winning it gives me the idea that hes a man on a mission and will be around at the end.
Denny Hamlin (DK $9,200 FD $12,000)
Denny is another place differential play this weekend starting 20th. In the last 4 Coke 600’s Denny hasn’t finished worse then 8th. In practice Hamlin had top 4 consecutive speed in 10,15 and 20 laps. In similar tracks this season with this package Hamlin has finished no worse then 16th with one win at Texas. Hamlin and Larson both come with potential issues, Larson(high line driving) and Hamlin(pit penalties). However the upside for both of these drivers outweighs the risk in my opinion.
Alex Bowman (DK $8,100 FD $10,000)
Alex Bowman has been on a different level over the past few weeks. Taking out the All Star race, Bowman has finished 2nd three straight races. After qualifying, Bowman said that they were more focused on race setup then qualifying setup. He starts 13th and gives some place differential upside. Last season he finished 9th in this race. Brad Keselowski even mentioned that it seems like Hendrick is the best team right now. Between Chase and Alex, for dfs purposes, I’ll take the savings with Alex this week as the best Hendrick play this week.
Matt DiBenedetto (DK $6,300 FD $6,000)
With lineup construction this week, the need for a couple value drivers will be key. Matt DiBenedetto has become a clutch value driver in these circumstances. His practice speeds indicate top 20 speed and at his price, the idea is to see him move up a few spots to get positive place differential well giving the salary relief needed to get up to the higher priced drivers. After a slower start MDB has proved that with better equipment he can be a better driver.
