All eyes will be focused on Gulfstream Park this Saturday as they have a mandatory payout in the $0.20 Rainbow Pick 6. The jackpot is estimated to be over $6 million! So while your live money bets can be focused there, it lines up perfect with StableDuel’s $20,000 big contest with a $60 entry fee! The winner will walk away with $5,500 and cash prizes will be awarded for the top 20 finishers. I have opinions across the entire card, and those can be found in our discord. Here, I am going to give a few options based on their salary. Lets have a day!
If you’re new to StableDuel, the idea is simple. Select 10 horses to build your “stable” while staying within the salary cap of $50,000. Horses are assigned prices based on their morning line odds, so you cannot use all favorites in your stable. StableDuel awards points for horses that come 1st – 5th and subtracts horses that finish outside of the top 5. This is why it is crucial to make sure you’re reading our content to narrow in on value horses that we think can get points.

High Price Favorites
#6 Letruska $14,000- Race 6
I almost NEVER would advocate for a $14,000 horse to be put in your stable. Even still, I just think Letruska is the most likely winner on the card (obviously, as her 2/5 morning line suggests). She did just win the 2021 Eclipse Award for Older Dirt Female. Prior to her meltdown in the BC Distaff last November, she won 7 out of 8 races. Those were grade 1 and 2 races, while the race today is a grade 3. At $14,000 in salary, ONLY use this horse if you are not compromising salary elsewhere. If you want to play this race but cant afford Letruska, use #3 Crazy Beautiful or #7 Helping Lisa D, but just know they likely will only acquire minor awards. As sure as I am that we’ll see that red fluffy noseband on Letruska, we’ll see this one in the winners circle.
#3 Montauk Point $7,500 – Race 9
If you don’t want to use Letruska, another option that’s not quite cheap enough to be a mid-priced play but cheaper than most high priced favorites is Montauk Point in Race 9. I think this horse is extremely interesting as a $500,000 half brother to Covfefe. If you’ve been around long enough with me, we have used Covfefe to pad our wallets. Montauk Point is pretty lightly raced to this point. He sprinted twice as a two-year old and this year, ran a mile and a sixteenth route where he nabbed 2nd. If there was a little more runway, Montauk Point could have made it close last out. In this race, he’ll stretch out a little further and we’ll see if we can get this son of Violence in the winners circle.
Value Plays
#2 Impressive Speed $1000 – Race 8
This is my favorite value play of the day! Impressive Speed started his career up at Woodbine in Canada, mostly on the synthetic track. In his only only try on the turf last year, he broke his maiden. That race was a mile long and Impressive Speed found himself stuck in the back of the pack. Near last call, he went from 9th to 1st to win. Another angle I enjoy is that in 13 career starts, only twice would this horse have finished outside of StableDuel points. Expect him midpack and attempt a late push to the finish line.
