Ricky’s StableDuel Strategy – Dubai World Cup 3/26

Good Morning Karma fam! We are getting out of bed early on a Saturday morning for todays contests! Meydan City, Dubai is host to the Dubai World Cup as part of their ending date of Carnival. A month removed from Saudi Arabia, we will see some of the same and many new faces trying to win one of these prestigious races in Dubai. StableDuel has put TWO contests in their game. We have a $10 contest with a $1,000 prize pool and a $150 Duel In The Desert with a whopping $10,000 prize pool up for grabs. If you are new to ‘Cup’ days in horse racing, think of them along the lines of NASCAR Daytona. There will be tons of wrecks and we always know there will be a ‘big one’. Now, we hope for no wrecks in horse racing, but instead I am talking about true longshots to win. Stable construction follows the same Daytona rules where it is good to leave salary on the table here. There is NO BETTER TIME than NOW to SIGN UP!

If you’re new to StableDuel, the idea is simple. Select 10 horses to build your “stable” while staying within the salary cap of $50,000. Horses are assigned prices based on their morning line odds, so you cannot use all favorites in your stable. StableDuel awards points for horses that come 1st – 5th and subtracts horses that finish outside of the top 5. This is why it is crucial to make sure you’re reading our content to narrow in on value horses that we think can get points.

High Price Favorites

#12 Manobo $13,000 – Race 3
I am not concerned with salary on a day like today, so it’s okay to use a big priced horse when it’s a likely winner. This is the case for Manobo in the third race. Jockey William Buick said Manobo is his favorite horse of the day, so take note of that. Last out, Manobo set the track record on this course in a Grade 3 at 1-3/4 mile. Today, he will be going 2 miles. A horse that is homebred by Godolphin will likely make it 6 out of 6 lifetime wins.

Mid Price Plays

#2 Colonel Liam $4,000 – Race 7
Colonel Liam is 7/1 on the morning line and we all know American bettors will be taking out loans to place bets on this horse if he stays that high on the board. My guess is that American bettors will make this horse the favorite in the world wide pool. Last time out, Colonel Liam won the Grade 1 Pegasus by a length after a 7 month hiatus. I am not sure if Colonel Liam will win this race, but the value is there for a real superstar American horse. He will just need to deal with Japan’s ace in Schnell Meister and Irelands top choice in Lord North.

Value Plays

#5 Hukum $1000 – Race 8
Hukum has as much of a shot at winning race 8 as anyone in this race, I think. In 13 starts, he has hit the board 11 times. 8 of those times were wins. Hukum has yet to win a Grade 1, but watching this horse win a Grade 2 last time out on this course at this distance made me think he has a shot. I am slightly worried about the Japanese invaders, but for $1000 on a day where more long shots will win than favorites, you gotta take a chance.
