StableDuel has 3 contests to play if you are looking for action. I am going to focus on a little talked about track in Washington called Emerald Downs. For the contest today, we will be entering into the $5 value tournament and watching these races when the lights come on tonight. The action starts at 8 pm eastern and won’t be over until after midnight. Let’s wake up to some winning stables!
If you need a refresher on scoring, please refer back to our debut article that goes a little more in-depth, located here.

High Price Favorites
Muncey $9,600 – Race 2
As one of the highest-priced horses on the slate, you really don’t want to miss on a short odds horse. Muncey makes a strong case for building your lineup around him in this field of 5. Sporting a 1 for 9 lifetime record against stronger competition, this horse has been in the StableDuel money 8 of 9 times. The only miss was on a wet track when the rider fell off.
Premier League $9,200 – Race 10
I’m providing this horse as a pivot from the chalk that Muncey will end up as, and at a cheaper rate. Seven horses have drawn into the nightcap and I do like a few horses in this race. Premier League has only won 1 race thus far, but has been getting better with each race since switching to the dirt. Interesting fact, the dam to Premier League has had 6 babies and all 6 have been winners, with most success coming after 2 years old. I think this horse will end up lower owned than Muncey, at a little bit higher risk, but still a solid bet to be in the money.
Mid Price Plays
Friendswithbourbon $6,000 – Race 9
We find ourselves here in a claiming race with 7 entrants. I think the favorite is vulnerable, which opens up the door to finding some mid-price plays in this race. I’m going to spoil Karma readers and let them know that Full Speed Ahead ($7,500), also from this race, is a solid choice as well. I’m not sure if it’s best to put both of these horses in your stable, but I do like both and I am indifferent about where they end up finishing.
Value Plays
Wicked Winnings $1,000 – Race 2
This horse should also end up extremely highly owned. You almost have to put this horse in your stable just to stay salary-competitive with the rest of the entrants in this contest. The top 5 horses in each race acquire base points and this is a 5 horse race. Unless this horse finishes miles back, there’s a solid chance that this value horse collects something at least. My model is pointing towards a 3rd place finish, which would be insane value.
Secrets of My Soul $750 – Race 7
In an extremely tough race where I am not a fan of the favorite, I don’t mind this horse at only $750. While it would be an extreme stretch to win this race, a top-five finish isn’t far from reality. This horse races against better normally, so I like to think this is a classy horse. All I do know is that Secrets of My Soul will need to get quicker. This is a grasping at straws kind of horse, but one you can consider for your stable.
