After some needed days off for many teams, the NHL boldly returns tonight with 26 teams in action. Our focus today is on extreme punts. As you can see in the pricing below, all skaters are just slightly above minimum salary. I’m hoping to help you make room for all the studs you want to include in your lineup builds.

Offense:
- Cory Conacher TB ($2800-DK only) With injury comes opportunity. Conacher was called up from the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, (the hometown of your’s truly) where he registered 12 points in 16 games. No one can immediately fill the skates of Nikita Kucherov, but Conacher has found himself in a top six skating role tonight for the Lightning versus Chicago’s 24th ranked defense. (Conacher is not listed in FD’s player pool.)
- Gaetan Haas EDM ($2600-DK, $3200-FD) has seen an increase in minutes, and will see second unit power play time versus the Kings tonight. Haas had an assist last game at San Jose and it won’t take much to pay off this tiny price tag.
- Joel Eriksson Ek MIN($2900-DK, $3900-FD) has contributed two assists and eight shots on goal in his last three games, and gets to face the Avalanche on home ice. The Wild have been more competitive lately, winning two of three, and have played their best at the Xcel Energy Center this season.
Others to consider: Tomas Nosek VGK ($2500-DK, $3600-FD) Colton Sceviour FLA ($2500-DK, $3100-FD)
Defense:
- Ian Cole COL ($2900-DK, $3500-FD) has blocked 15 shots in his last five games, and should see a decent number of opportunities for more on the penalty kill tonight in Minnesota. I love inexpensive d-men who aren’t afraid to block shots!
- Olli Maatta CHI ($2500-DK, $3700-FD) has two assists, five shots, and 5 blocks in his last three games. Cheap, active blueliners like this are hard to find, so when spending down remember to look for blocks as a main source of fantasy scoring.
Also consider: Dante Fabbro NSH ($2600-DK, $3500-FD)
Goaltenders:
- Connor Hellebuyck WPG ($7100-DK only) seems like a gift from the DK pricing Gods today. Hellebuyck only has one regulation loss in his last seven starts. This game has one of the lowest projected goal totals on the board, and he is priced $1300 higher on FD.
- Joonas Korpisalo CLS ($7600-FD only) has a dream home match up against a Detroit team averaging a league worst 2.35 goals/game. Korpisalo has won both of his last two games, and has only given up two goals in five of his last six starts.
