What’s up Karma Nation,
One HUGE thing to remember when playing DFS is to leave yesterday’s results in the past. Take time to celebrate your victories, but have a short memory when it comes to losing. This is especially important when thinking about making your lineups. Too often we get hung up on a certain player’s poor performance. Don’t let that cloud your judgement in using that player when they are in a good match-up next time. Oh well, so that player burned you. Just be ready to roster him next time he goes off-that’s your revenge!
Here are a handful of skaters in match-ups to exploit tonight:
Offense:
- Cody Glass VGK ($3900-DK, $4700-FD) Is coming off his best game with an assist and five shots against Nashville. Glass plays on the top power play unit for Vegas, and could be a top six skater for some other teams. This game not only has the highest implied total on the schedule, but Vegas is the biggest favorite to pick up a win tonight.
- Mikael Backlund CGY ($4500-DK, $5000-FD) Centers the Flames second scoring line and power play, Backlund has two assists and 11 shots over his last four games. Calgary is the second best favorite on the board and should easily handle Detroit at home tonight. I’m really high on the top six skaters for both Calgary and Vegas, so consider that in your lineup construction.
- Joel Armia MON ($4200-FD, $4100-FD) He’s been an offensive boost on Montreal’s third line with 11 shots and four points in his last four games. The Wild rank 31st defensively and should give all Canadian lines great scoring chances. You get second unit power play time from Armia for this low price tag as well.
Defense:
- Vince Dunn STL ($4000-DK, $4100-FD) Anchors the second power play unit for the Blues and already has a PP goal this season. I really like his shot production having launched 16 shots in his last five games. This game has the lowest expected goal total on the slate so you shouldn’t worry about Dunn’s plus/minus in this one.
- Ryan Ellis NSH ($4800-FD, $5000-DK) His salary is creeping upwards, but still cheap enough for me to feature him. He really paid off for anyone who rostered him last game with two assists, two shots and a block for over 20 fantasy points on FD, and 14 on DK. I think you will see Ellis’ name on the score sheet against the Coyotes.
Goaltender:
- Alexandar Georgiev NYR ($7700-DK, $7700-FD) He made quite a splash in his season debut, recording 31 saves in a 4-1 victory in Ottawa. He’s my choice on a night with not much other value in the crease. This is essentially a home game for the Rangers and I think they have a good chance at a mild upset over the Devils. If you’re not spending up at goalie, you have to consider Georgiev for your lineup.
Win or lose, we get a chance to do this whole thing over again tomorrow! I love the NHL.
