Greetings Karma Nation,
Tonight’s NHL schedule brings tons of opportunity for lineup variation with 22 teams in action. It shakes out to be a GPP player’s dream/nightmare due to all the different ways you can go. Nights like tonight also naturally present additional value choices because of the higher than normal player pool for DFS sites to price.
Feel free to fill your lineup holes with some of these cheaper options:
Offense~
- Yanni Gourde TB ($3900-DK, $4800-FD) Set at 7, this game has tonight’s highest projected over/under total. Much of the focus will be on Tampa’s top line because of their extreme scoring potential, but don’t overlook Gourde. He not only had an assist in each of his last two games, but has also seen an increase in both total TOI and his power play time.
- Zack Kassian EDM ($4500-DK, $4500-FD) Until they adjust his price, I’m going to keep suggesting Kassian. He is just too cheap for a top-line player in a game with the second highest projected total. Not only has he averaged double digit fantasy points on both sites in each game played, but there is always high assist potential playing on the same line with McDavid.
- Patrick Marleau SJ ($4500-DK, $3900-FD) I’m always watchful of player’s season debuts. Marleau gets his tonight skating on the Shark’s top line and 2nd-unit PP, in another of tonight’s highest projected game totals. Some will argue his age, but I still think he has 40-point potential this season and is in a great spot tonight with fresh legs and the Hawk’s generous 29th ranked defense.
Defense~
- Danny DeKeyser DET ($4300-DK, $4400-FD) Tied for the NHL league lead with 11 blocked shots through 3 games, DeKeyser also has two helpers and a TOI average of almost 22 mins. per game. Like Kassian, DeKeyser also has rewarded fantasy players with a double-digit ave. per game on both sites so far.
- Esa Lindell DAL ($3400-DK, $4100-FD) Nothing wrong with targeting blueliners with high TOI. Dallas greatly relies on their top two defensive pairings and as a result, Lindell gets heavy minutes. He is coming off a great game against the Capitals, racking up an assist, two blocked shots and 3 shots on goal. Look for him to put together back-to-back impressive games tonight.
Goaltender~
- Anders Nilsson OTT ($6700-DK, $7100-FD) Making his season debut tonight at home vs. St. Louis. In their first three games, the Blues are off to a slow offensive start, only averaging a bit over 2.5 goals/game. Nilsson’s small price tag should return value due to both the Sens inconsistent defense, and the moderate-high shot volume he’ll see. My favorite lineup build is a low-priced goalie with stud offensive choices on nights like tonight.
Here’s hoping you sit back, enjoy the tremendous hockey and cash ALL your lineups!
