PGA Top DFS Plays: Tour Championship

My Top DFS Plays were very mediocre last week, just like most of the season!

But we have one big week left to build that bankroll for the NFL season.

The Top 30 PGA Tour pros head to the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club (par 71, 7,346 yards) this weekend.

The East Lake course is the not the same course where Victor Hovland played to claim the FedEx Cup playoffs title last year.

The course has had a complete restoration back to the original Donald Ross characteristics. New grass for the fairways and greens, while bunkers have replaced and moved.

This week features staggered starting scores based on the season long points standing. Scottie Scheffler will start at 10-under and a two-stroke lead over Xander Schauffele.

Onto this week’s Top DFS Plays for the Tour Championship!

10K & Above

Xander Schauffele ($11,000)

Scheffler ($12,200) was a big disappointment in my lineups last week.

So I’m going to pivot to Xander this week. It probably means Scottie will go crazy and finally win his first FedEx Cup title.

However, both golfers are good choices, but I’m going to play Schauffele in more lineups than Scheffler this week.

Plus, Scheffler seems to struggle on courses he hasn’t played on in the past. The updated East Lake may give him more troubles than Schauffele.

9K & Above

Ludvig Aberg ($9,900)

Aberg has been immune to playing on courses for the first time this season.

The young Swede played well at Castle Pines last week as it was the first Tour event at the course since 2006.

His elite all-around game gives him a leg up on the field again this week. He’s in the Top 25 on Tour in six categories I used on my spreadsheet this week.

8K & Above

Victor Hovland ($8,300)

Hovland has finally regained his form that won him the FedEx Cup title last year.

However, he may be too far behind to catch the leaders this weekend without a complete collapse by both Scheffler and Schauffele.

Hovland is still one of my Top DFS Plays thanks to his elite off of the tee and approach games.

7K & Above

Russell Henley ($7,400)

Henley has had a very successful season despite being short off the tee by Tour standards.

He makes up for his lack of distance with elite numbers in accuracy off the tee, and he is one of the better approach players and putters this season.

He has five Top 12 finishes in elevated events or majors since April.

Sungjae Im ($7,500) has been playing excellent golf since May, including six Top 10 finishes.

Punt Plays

Akshay Bhatia ($6,900) and Aaron Rai ($6,400) are the only two 6K golfers to sneak into my Top 15. Both have won events in the second half of the season.
