Gator’s Quick Notes – 1st Round Showdown & Euro PGA

WM Phoenix Open 2019

1st Round Showdown Slate

The weather is set fair all day with virtually no wind, so we may concentrate on early starters as they will have the better conditions however players from the later group are always worth consideration;

Rickie Fowler – $9800

65, 67, 66 in first round in previous 3 WM Phoenix Open, but a slow start to the season so for, very much a course specialist.

Matt Kuchar – $9600

Shot 64 in 1st round 2017 and has great course form and current form, what’s there not to like about this guy

Phil Mickelson – $9500

Great form, great record, can go low

Chez Reavie – $8600

Has shot 5 out of previous 7 rounds in sub 70’s this season, and lost here in the playoff last year. Best form of his career but has missed plenty of cuts at Phoenix but did shoot all rounds sub 70’s last year

Billy Horschel – $8700

Does seem to be finding form again and has made 5 out of 6 cuts at Scotsdale including 66 in opening round last year, 8th last week with opening round 66 at South Course

Lucas Glover- $7400

Can go low and all 1st rounds have been sub 70’s so far this year

Vaughan Taylor – $6900

Shot 67 and 68 in previous first rounds at Scottsdale and is in good form

Saudi International Open

With all the politics to one side whilst this is an extremely interesting field, I think decide on your strategy as it is definitely a case of Tier A, B and XYZ players and the winner is almost certainly coming from the top tier this week.

Will try and pick players from each category but with no course form to go on recent cuts in the last 2 weeks in The Middle East may be the best option.

Tier A

Brysen DeChambeau – $11200

Obvious choice but cheaper than Rose who flies in from the States, and in great form.

Sergio Garcia – $10000

3rd in Dubai and has won in the Middle East previously

Tier 2

Romain Langasque – $8200

T20 in Dubai and finished well last week

Paul Waring – $7800

T6 and T3 in previous two weeks, good player, overpriced but in great form

Justin Harding – $7800

7th in Dubai

Aaron Rai – $7400

Improved performance last week and will be a star player in the next few years

Tier C

Adria Arnaus – $7300

Two top 30 finishes in Middle East Swing

Scott Jamieson – $7400

Hoping to put last week’s MC behind him

Shun Sharma – $7200

Another player on the up top 30 finish in Dubai
