This is my weekly PGA article that focuses on the cheapos no one else dare write about. At least one of these plays pops in the Top 10 on almost a weekly basis. My salary cap for this weekly piece is $7300 DK. 2020 Farmers Insurance Open
The FIO is a weird event in that it’s played on two different courses, but not equally. There is a South course and a North course. The North course is only played on once per golfer (Thursday or Friday). The South course is played on thrice per golfer. Yes, I used the word thrice. For these Punt Plays, I’m focusing on the South course with its Poa greens, Par 72, and 7700 yards of length.
Recent Form
Keegan clocks in at 7th overall in ranks, mainly due to his THREE Top 7 stats in T2G, BS, and OTT. His SG: APP at 14 is pretty on the eyes as well. However, recently, Poa has not been his friend.
When I asked Sam who his last favorite golfer was of these 7, he sad Baddeley. And while he may be awful in almost all stats, he rocks on Poa, recently anyway.
JJ Spaun is similar to Baddeley, in that he likes Poa, but doesn’t like much else.
Jimmy Dubs is one of the players that tanks when I write him up in this piece, but shines elsewhere. So play him this week at your own risk.
Sepp doesn’t have much history at this event, but I feel like this guy will be making a handful of appearances in this article this season.
Streb and Poa don’t mix well. His approach game ranks 1st overall though.
Brendan freaking Steele. Another player who shines when I lay off and takes a dump when mentioned in my Punt Plays. Besides his ARG being disgusting, he is pretty consistent around the board.
Tournament History
Keegan has made 4/5 cuts here with 2 Top 5s in that span.
Streb has 4 straight makes with a 9th in 2017.
Steele HAD 4 straight makes but ate it last year. Think he bounces back this time around.
JJ tied with Streb for 9th in 2017 and has gotten worse each year. $6200 is worth a shot though.
Sepp hasn’t finished outside of Top 13 in last 5 years, granted only here once. (cue Sam’s “I hate you Trevis”)
Baddeley is Bad here aside from 8th in 2016. I kept him in here because Sam hates him, and I want a Top 10 Baddeley finish to rub in his face.
Jimmy Dubs had back to back Top 7 finishes. Got cut. Barely placed. Then got cut again. Based on the theory of relativity, I say he makes the cut this year.
