If you haven’t played a PGA contest on FantasyDraft yet, I’ll fill you in. You can roster 7 golfers. Only the top 6 scores are added to your overall score, thus the lowest score of the 7 golfers in your lineup is dropped and does not count against you at all. It doesn’t matter if it was your most expensive golfer that bit the dust and missed the cut (Spieth earlier this year), or if it was a minimum salary punt play that performed like minimum price players typically do.
The salaries for PGA on FantasyDraft are also rather tight so you usually must have a relatively cheap or min. priced player to help roster one or two “favorites to win”.
With that said, the purpose of this weekly PGA article is to enlighten you to the best PGA Punt Plays for the week. The overall goal here is to find the cheap golfer that can make the cut and aide your roster in case one of your “Top 6” falter or miss the cut altogether. If you roster one of these suggested players and they are the lowest score on your lineup, it usually means your “Top 6” performed adequately.
Last Week Recap:
HOLY COW! This was the best Punt Play result of the season!!!
Cameron Smith – $11,700 FDraft | $6,900 DK | $7,900 FD – Finished 3rd with -13
J.B. Holmes – $12,000 FDraft | $6,700 DK | $7,900 FD – MC
Alex Cejka – $10,800 FDraft | $6,500 DK | $7,000 FD – Finished 56th with -2
Adam Hadwin – $11,500 FDraft | $6,300 DK | $8,300 FD – Finished 11th with -10
Scott Stallings – $10,800 FDraft | $6,300 DK | $7,200 FD – Finished 28th with -6
Dell Technologies Championship
This event is played at TPC Boston as a Par 71 reaching 7,342 yards in length with bentgrass greens.
Whee Kim – $10,700 FDraft | $6,400 DK | $7,000 FD
Whee Kim’s experience here is short and sweet. Literally. He played here just last year and was cut. Whee comes in ranked 9thin total strokes gained. He doesn’t have any stats that scare me and has 5 that rank in the top 37. His best stats are 7th in SG: SG and 4th in SG: P.
Brian Harman – $11,900 FDraft | $6,800 DK | $8,700 FD
Harman has the best course history of all the Punt Plays this week by making the cut each of the last 4 years here. His best finish is 12th place back in 2015. He comes in at 17th overall in total strokes gained. He is consistent with all of his stats being in the top 64 and his best are 9th in SG: SG and 3rd in SG: P. He is my PUNT PLAY OF THE WEEK.
Scott Stallings – $11,600 FDraft | $6,700 DK | $7,300 FD
Stallings did me proud last week with a decent showing. Since Hadwin is too pricey for my cap now, I’m going back to the well with Scotty Too Hottie. He didn’t compete here in the last 3 years, but he made the cut the 2 years prior finishing 35th in both. He is 24th in total strokes gained. All stats are in the top 61 with his best being 17th in SG: BS and 14th in SG: OTT.
Keith Mitchell – $11,000 FDraft | $6,500 DK | $7,000 FD
Mitchell doesn’t have any course history at this event. He is 29th in total strokes gained. He has 5 stats inside the top 41 with the best being 16th in SG: OTT and 15th in SG: ARG. His worst stat is 72nd in SG: APP. He is my least favorite Punt out of all 5, but I still like him enough to keep him on the list.
Scott Piercy – $11,300 FDraft | $6,600 DK | $7,400 FD
Piercy didn’t compete here last year or in 2014. He missed the cut in 2015, but made it in 2016 and 2013 where he had his best finish at 13th place. He comes in at 30th overall in total strokes gained. He has 5 stats in the top 37 with his best being 17th in SG: OTT and 14th in SG: T2G. He sucks in SG: SG and SG: P with a 60th and an 80th ranking. AKA Bentgrass isn’t his thing.

SG: T2G – Tee to Green
SG: BS – Ball Striking
