NFL DFS – Bales’ Favorite StatHero Stack for Week 8

The most important note for StatHero is their scoring system. It’s different from what you’re likely used to, and we need to note what the most important aspects are. Quarterbacks are far and away the most important position, specifically passing yards. They get 0.05 fantasy points for every passing yard compared to only 0.1 fantasy points per rushing or receiving yard. For instance, a quarterback would receive 15 fantasy points for 300 yards passing. He would need 3.75 passing touchdowns to reach that. Running backs and receivers would need 1,50 yards to hit that number. They would need 2.5 touchdowns to score 15 fantasy points.

Tight ends are another major part of their scoring. They will receive 1.5 fantasy points per reception while running backs and wide receivers only receive one fantasy point per reception. With StatHero’s current scoring system, it could be a key to stack a team with a dominant quarterback and tight end pairing to go along with the other options on the offense.

The final scoring that could make or break your lineup is the distance bonus. Quarterbacks receive a slightly smaller bonus for long passing touchdowns, while running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends get a bit more of a bonus for touchdowns. Ultimately, you want touchdowns to come from 10+ yards out, which is the distance the bonus’ starts at.

Cleveland Browns

Baker Mayfield/Kareem Hunt/Rashard Higgins

Mayfield has been far from an elite option this season, but he has flashed at times. Overall, he owns 1,392 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions on 198 pass attempts through 7 games. He’s coming off of his best game of the season after struggling against some of the top pass defenses. Mayfield gets a great matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, who have struggled to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season. They’re allowing 183.8 passing yards per game in 2020. Las Vegas is also giving up 8.2 adjusted yards per game this season while allowing 11 passing touchdowns. The Cleveland Browns are -2.5 point favorites in a game set at 51.5 points, giving them an implied team total of 27 points this weekend.

Hunt has played 53% of the offensive snaps for Cleveland this season, although he’s been more of a workhorse running back with Nick Chubb injured. On the season, he owns 463 yards and 3 touchdowns on 101 carries. He also boasts 16 receptions for 106 yards and 4 touchdowns on 22 targets this season. Las Vegas is giving up 119.8 rushing yards per game in 2020. They’re also giving up 4.6 yards per carry this season. Most importantly, they’ve allowed 12 rushing touchdowns in only 6 games, making Hunt an elite option on this slate.

Higgins has only plated 30.8% of Cleveland’s offensive snaps, but he’ll take on a larger role with Odell Beckham Jr. injured. Last week, Higgins played a team-high 85% of the offensive snaps after Beckham was injured only a few plays into the game. Higgins saw 6 targets against the Cincinnati Bengals, recording 6 receptions for 110 yards. On the season, he boasts 11 receptions for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns on 12 targets. Higgins is likely to take over Beckham’s role in the offense, meaning his style of play will give him more upside than Jarvis Landry. There are a few options to fill out this stack that nearly made this article, but I’m focusing mainly on upside with this trio.
