What’s up DFS Grinders and welcome back to another edition of my Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown article. For tonight’s game, we have two AFC North teams going head to head. Both teams are searching for their first win tonight. Steelers are currently 3.5 point favorites at home vs the Bengals with a 45 point game total. (Bengals covering and this game is going over). Mixon is starting to look fully healthy and with the more experienced QB the Bengals should be able to stay within a FG. The being said let’s get right into breaking down my favorite plays for tonight’s game.
MVP
This is the first game in a while that I actually like the slate and we should have a nice high scoring affair.
Andy Dalton: He is my overall favorite play of the slate for FD only. With only half PPR Dalton should be able to pass Juju and Boyd which are the other two players I’m loving tonight. Dalton has surpassed 18 fantasy points in every game this season and is playing against a poor pass defense. He should take a step forward compared to his average. Projected at 287 and 2 TDs, with 300+ and 3 TD upside.
Tyler Boyd: Even though the Steelers Defense is better than the Bengals Boyd has the best matchup of the game. The Steelers are giving up 60% of their points to WRs in the slot this year and that’s where Boyd does a majority of his work. The Steelers did trade for young CB Minkah Fitzpatrick but he is running Safety, so really nothing to worry about there. Boyd has seen 10+ targets in all 3 games this season and should be the focal point of the offense once again.
Juju Smith Schulter: This is really the only piece I really want from the Pitt passing game. Cincy defense is just not good but I don’t exactly trust Rudolph to pay off his price tag. Juju gives a nice piece especially if the Steelers find themselves losing, juju might break the slate.
Mid Tier
James Conner: He’s my favorite Pitt player by far. Cincy is getting torched by RBs and this is the perfect bounceback game for him. He’s a high price on DK but definitely worth it. His high price could keep his ownership down on DK as well which makes me love the play even more. FD is a borderline lock with contrarian MVP upside in big contests.
Joe Mixon: The Steelers are giving up a lot to RBs this season. This is another great buy low spot for a running back in this game. Mixon had been battling injury and he’s finally getting fully healthy in a great matchup. Mixon has dealt with a bad offensive line his whole career so this is no different. The OL/DL matchup may keep ownership down but his pass catching upside here (3-4 catches) is great here. BUY LOW
Cheap Play
Tyler Eifert: Both TEs are great cheap exposure in this game. Eifert has dealt with a ton of injuries in his Career but looks pretty healthy to start the season. He’s really just a touchdown or bust guy for me while he does lead the team in RZ targets it’s only just two with a TD.
Nick Vannett: Filling In for McDonald, Vannett is not only on a new team, but he is thrown into a TE1 role. I really want to try to fit as many of Dalton Boyd Juju and conner as possible and Vannett is the perfect salary relief to get there.
Props
There was some line movement since I first posted but I still love the play.
