Joey’s Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown

What’s up Grinders to another edition of my Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown article. We have what is another bad primetime game to write about. This is getting kind of annoying. Bring back those Chiefs vs Rams type games like last year.

Vegas Lines

Da Bears are 5.5 point favorites on the road the Redskins with  41 game total.

MVPs

This is looking like a low scoring event so we can get creative with our MVPs. If there are only one or two touchdowns then the highest scoring player could be a variety of players that get you to first.

David Montgomery: I think I’m going to roll Montgomery as my main MVP. I am usually a fan of just one of the QBs but in this game environment, there isn’t going to be enough for the QB to pay off as much as we could see Montgomery. He is going to have perfect game script tonight to reach his ceiling with the Bears being 5.5 point favorites. As well as having one of the top OL/DL matchups of the week with Johnatona Allen projected to miss again this week the Redskins struggle to stop the run. There is a big difference in Montgomery’s positive vs negative game script snap count and usage. Take advantage of one of the only times the Bears will be favorited.

Case Keenum: This year we have seen more glaring garbage time yards add up than years past. Has had some high volume games and we could see that happening again tonight. Even though the Bears defense is one of the best in the league that doesn’t mean they aren’t susceptible to the garbage time TD. Keenum has been under pressure all year and has only taken 2 sacks during that time and is holding the 4th best passer rating under pressure this year as well.

Terry McLaurin: He is getting pretty expensive and normally I would not want to pay this price for a WR going up against the Bears, but if you are looking for a boom or bust play for your MVP this is your guy. Normally I wouldn’t want to play someone with his aDOT in a situation where I know Keenum will see a ton of pressure but I’m going to need to take the shot on him especially if I am playing Keenum and expect him to hit his ceiling. I know e has played well the first two games but this will be a tough test in general for this offense. HE is also working 20% of his snaps out of the slot so getting some work on Skrine that is always a plus.

FADE: Mitch Trubisky He has been so bad this year and in a low scoring game he is just not worth the ownership and price.

Mid Tier

Veron Davis: Green Bay had a lot of success going to Graham accumulating over 100 air yards. Davis has been a large part of their offense and can be inline for a great day especially at that price on FD.

Fade: Adrian Peterson He never rarely sees passing routes and game script should make him useless. He is way too expensive on FD. I’m fine with him on DK.

Cheap Tier

Trey Quinn: He is a sneaky 4k play. If we are looking for a Keenum stack you can go McLaurin and Quinn with Keenum. Pair them with Montgomery and you have a nice starting core. Quinn has seen a majority of his work out of the slot and with not many holes in the fantastic Bears D Skrine is the worst of the corners. He definitely can hide in this defense but he is still the weak link I am looking to target most weeks against the BEars. He won’t get you a ton but the volume and touchdown upside is very present.

Chris Thompson and Tarik Cohen: Both have similar roles on the team and both could have some nice games based on low aDOT but high volume. With Cohen, you are getting a slot WR in the RB slot. Thompson will see an increase in snaps and volume due to negative game script and the pressure will lead to Thompson a high target volume.

Mike Davis: If you want a low owned punt play that will get you a great edge with a vulture on Montgomery then Davis is your guy.

Kickers and Defenses

These are the types of games where kickers and defenses are in play. You have a low scoring projected game that plays right into the defense and kickers. Pinero has been dealing with a knee injury but is good to go. I wouldn’t want to play a kicker with an injury. Redskins D is a great play. Even though the Bears are favorited in this game there is plenty of room to play the home underdog with the extremely inaccurate Mitch Trubisky.

Props
