WR Brandon Aiyuk vs. Philadelphia Eagles
What on earth is going on with Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers? Reportedly in Head Coach Kyle Shanahan’s “doghouse” and still working his way back from a hamstring injury, Aiyuk cannot be in your fantasy lineups this week. You cannot trust him to even be on the field and get targets in the offense. Aiyuk is the type of player I’m leaving on my bench until he proves otherwise that he’s still a starter. I love the talent of the player, but we actually need to see him declared a starter in the offense before we can trust him moving forward. This matchup against the Eagles isn’t great, anyways.
RB Mike Davis vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
“Iron Mike” as I like to call him had great numbers last week, in terms of his usage rates and other peripheral stats like snap share and target share. However, if I have any kind of viable pivot option on my bench, I’m putting them in over Davis this week. We saw the Bucs run defense gobble up the Cowboys backfield in week 1, and I’d expect more of the same in a game where the Falcons will likely be in a negative game script for the majority of time. If you do need to star Davis this week, I understand it. Be encouraged that he’ll likely see check-downs, which should, in theory, give him some relative fantasy point floor this week.
RB Josh Jacobs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Last week, I had Zack Moss as a sit against the Steelers. Zack Moss ended up being inactive on the day, but the logic here still stands the same. I actually feel worse about Jacobs than I did Moss last week, because Jacobs has not practiced as of the writing of this article (Friday). Jacobs’ stat line last week was absolutely horrendous (10 carries, 34 yards, 2 TDs). His day was salvaged for fantasy by the TDs. I don’t see him getting those same rushing touchdowns against an elite steelers run D. Sit Jacobs even if he plays this week.
