Slate Thoughts:

  • I am super pumped for another week of College football action, especially when we get a lot of high scoring games on one slate.  When looking at this particular slate, the top player that stands out above all the rest is Chuba Hubbard.  Hubbard is arguably one of the best running backs in the country.  Last year Chuba averaged 6.4 yards per carry, had over 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns.  He is an absolute stud, and this week he will be facing a Tulsa defense that is not very good.  This game has the highest total on the slate, and Oklahoma State are heavy favorites.  I expect OK State to run the ball quite a bit, and expect Hubbard to start off his season with a bang.  Hubbard will be locked into my cash lineups and is a great play in all formats this week.  His Quarterback Spencer Sanders is a decent play this week as well.  Although I do not expect them to throw the ball a ton, I do expect he will offer quite a bit of upside with his running ability.  With this total being as high as it is, and with the safe floor Sanders offers with his rushing ability, he makes for a safe play in cash.
  • Another game I believe you will want to get pieces of is GT vs. UCF.  The current total is sitting at 63 as of now, so expect there to be plenty of scoring in this one.   Dillon Gabriel is my top play from this game.  Gabriel had a phenomenal freshman season for the Knights last year, throwing for over 3,500 yards and 29 touchdowns.  Gabriel, not only can hurt you with his arm, but can pick up yards on the ground when needed.  He is not a great runner, but is good enough.  Gabriel did have his fair share of struggles on the road last season, but I expect him to improve on that this year.  Gabriel comes in at a very affordable $7,600 on Draftkings and should have no problem paying off that price.  He is probably going to be my top QB play in cash games.  If playing Gabriel I would look to pair him with Marlon Williams.  Marlon Williams has the potential to be “the guy” this year for UCF at the WR position.  I look for Gabriel to look his way quite a bit this week.  GT’s secondary is not a group that will strike fear in this UCF squad so expect a big game from both Gabriel and Williams.
  • Pitt is a team that should garner little ownership this week.  Taysir Mack will be available this week.  Mack was a target monster for Pickett last year and I expect much of the same this year.  Syracuse did a pretty good job of limiting UNC last week, but Mack can rack up targets and receptions in a hurry, and with dk’s scoring of 1 pt per reception this gives mack a very solid floor.  Pickett can be very inconsistent at times but does come with some rushing ability.  I think Syracuse played way over their head last week on defense and could see them take a step back to what we expected this week.  I like Pitt as a tournament play this week.
  • There are plenty of value plays on this slate that will help us get to a lot of the studs on this slate.  One of the better values on this slate is Duke’s Quarterback Chase Brice.  Brice is only $6800 and will be facing a BC defense that should experience their fair share of struggles this year.  Brice preformed pretty well against a pretty tough Notre Dame defense last week, and should be able to improve upon last weeks performance.  Another QB that is priced low is GT quarterback Jeff Sims.  Sims played pretty good vs. Florida State last week and will look to keep that success going this week vs UCF.  Sims offers us some rushing ability increasing his ceiling.  He completed 23/34 passes with a TD and 2 int last week.  UCF does offer an average defense, but at $5300 and part of one of the highest scoring games on the slate, Sims makes for a good value play, especially in tournaments.
  • An interesting option this week will be Lyn-J Dixon.  Dabo has come out and said that Lyn-J will be “cut loose” this week vs. The Citadel.  Obviously this game is going to be a blowout, and the action for Etienne will be limited, which should open up opportunities for Dixon.  $5600 puts him in that in-between tier, where if he gets the run that they are saying they are going to give him he will crush his price tag.  If he doesn’t get the opportunities we are expecting he will struggle paying off his price.  He is definitely only a GPP play, but his ceiling, if he gets 12-15 carries, is very nice!
