Week 2
Tonight’s slate brings us four contest that all appear to be one-sided affairs, however, there should be plenty of points scored in these contest making it a very fun DFS slate. This article is designed to highlight a few of our top plays/targets from tonight’s slate, and to help aid you in your lineup building process.
Friday’s Slate of Games:
Kansas @ Coastal Carolina (-25.5) O/U: 52
NC A&T @ Duke (No Line)
North Dakota @ Utah State (No Line)
UTEP @ Boise State (-26) O/U: 56.5
Quarterbacks
Grayson McCall: DK $8,900 FD 11,500
Coastal Carolina come into this matchup vs. Kansas as HEAVY favorites and should have no issues scoring the ball on a poor Kansas defense. Grayson and the rest of the Chanticleers are looking to pick up where they left off last season. McCall is not only a very efficient passer, he can also add in plenty of upside through his ability to run the ball. On a slate as small as this one, Grayson McCall is a lock for me in all formats. Beyond McCall, the remaining QB options are very underwhelming. This is one of those slates where I may look at playing a RB in the super flex spot, rather than a QB. If you are looking to play someone other than McCall, or play 2 QB’s in your lineup, you will find my top remaining options for the slate below. They are listed in order of preference.
Others to consider: H. Bachmeier (Boise); J. Bean (Kansas); J. Fowler (NC A&T); G. Holmberg (DUKE)
Running Backs
Mataeo Durant (DUKE): DK $6,900 FD $11,000
Durant was absolutely dominant in week 1 vs. Charlotte, despite Duke picking up the loss. Durant ran for 255 yards on 29 attempts and added in 3 TD’s. This matchup is even better for him than the one he had last week. Duke should roll in this game, which means I don’t expect to see another 29 rush attempt game here, however, he should be able to break off some big runs against the NC A&T defense.
Reese White (Coastal Carolina): DK $4,700 FD $8,000
White ran for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns last week vs. a outmatched Citadel defense. He now takes on a poor power five defense, in Kansas. Kansas barely escaped last week with a win, and now come into this matchup vs. Coastal as huge dogs. I expect Coastal to run the ball a lot in this matchup, and that bodes well for both White and Jones. White is a guy I expect to see the majority of the goal line work, but he is also a guy that has big play potential. Both White and Jones come in priced below 5k, making both strong options on this short slate. I definitely will be getting exposure to both here.
Others to consider: G. Holani (Boise) questionable; O. Weah (UND) love him here; R. Awatt (UTEP) $3700? seriously?; S. Jones (CCU); V. Gardner (Kansas); C. Tyler (UTST)
Wide Receivers
Deven Thompkins (UTST): DK $7000 FD $9000
Thompkins is the top weapon on the outside for this Utah State team. He had 10 targets, 8 receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown last week vs. Washington State. He gets a very favorable matchup this week vs. North Dakota, who will really struggle containing him and his playmaking abilities. With the value we have at running back this week, I find it very easy to get up to the three stud WR on this slate, and that is exactly what I plan to do in my main lineup. Thompkins should be heavily targeted here, and on DK where we are getting a point per reception, he could have 10 points just off of receptions alone. He is always a threat to take the top off of a defense.
Khalil Shakir (Boise State): DK $7,500 FD $10,200
Shakir and the Boise State Broncos get a very favorable matchup vs. UTEP this week. Shakir is the the top offensive weapon on this Boise team, especially if Holani is out again. He was supposedly on a snap count last week, and even with a limited snap count he finished with 5 receptions 91 yards and 2 touchdowns. As of this moment I have not read any reports talking about a snap count for Shakir this week, leading me to believe he will be full go. He is Bachmeier’s favorite target, and despite the huge spread here, Shakir should be able to make some noise early in this contest. Shakir is a DK only play for me, 10,200 is to rich for my blood on FD.
Others to consider: J. Heiliigh (Coastal); D. Wright (UTST); J. Bobo (DUKE); J. Garrett (UTEP); R. Hunt (NC A&T)
