Slate Thoughts:

  • We are coming off of a strong weekend last week, and are looking to keep our momentum going this week.  Right off the bat, I noticed that Draftkings has dropped the ball in a few places on pricing that we can hopefully take advantage of, before they get a huge price bump in the comin weeks.
  • First off, the top game of the week in terms of fantasy production is going to be the Texas Tech vs. Texas game.  This game currently has a total of 71.  This game should be an absolute track meet!  We have already witnessed that Texas Tech is very poor vs. the pass, as Houston Baptist lit them up through the air.  This week they will be going up against a very good quarterback in Sam Ehlinger.  The Texas passing attack should be able to do just about anything they want to vs. this Texas Tech defense.  Ehlinger is my top QB for cash games, and makes a great play in Gpp’s as well.  Ehlinger is also one of Texas’s top options for goal line carries.  His upside is through the roof this weekend.  I think stacking his top two pass catchers with him is a great idea, especially in tournaments.  Tarik Black, who transferred in from Michigan, looked really good in their first game, as did Joshua Moore.  If I had to pick one, I lean towards Black slightly due to the $900 savings you get with him.
  • On the other side of this game you have Texas Tech looked really good on offense.  Bowman is a very underrated QB.  We know that Texas Tech is going to throw the ball a ton, and in this environment they are going to have to throw a ton just to try and keep up with this Texas offense.  Bowman had 52 pass attempts vs. Houston Baptist, and I expect him to have close to that his week.  He is also capable of picking up yards on the ground when needed.  Beyond him, this Texas Tech offense has plenty of weapons around him such as Vasher, Ezukanma and Rigdon.  In tournaments I love stacking this game all around.  An Ehlinger, Black and Moore stack and running it back with a Bowman/Vasher stack looks really nice this week!
  •  QB Kenny Pickett and the Pitt offense have looked pretty good to start the year.  Pickett’s price this week, only $6500, is to low for what he is capable of achieving.  He will be facing a struggling Louisville defense this week, and with the way this Pitt offense is playing, he should be able to pay off is price tag pretty easy.  We still are not sure if we will see Taysir Mack this week, but if we do, he makes for a solid play with Pickett.  James Addison is the guy I would be looking to stack with Pickett this week.  We were able to play him last week at only $3700, but this week he is priced all the way up to $6100.  He is still a solid play at that price due to the volume of targets he receives out of the slot position.
  • One of my favorite plays on the slate this week is George Pickens.  Pickens is an extremely talented receiver for the University of Georgia.  Last year we witnessed him take over games down the stretch for the Bulldogs.  In his final game last year for UGA he had 10 receptions at halftime.  He ended up finishing with 12/175/2 vs. Baylor.  UGA has brought in Todd Monken to lead their offense this year, and Kirby has eluded to the “Air Raid” offense numerous times in press conferences when talking about what type of offense UGA will implement.  Now, I do not expect this offense to be a full on air raid, because Kirby wants to still run the ball.  However, this offense will play with much higher pace than those UGA teams in the past and will be an offense that looks to push the ball down the field more often.  Whoever is under center for the Bulldogs, whether it be Dwan Mathis or JT Daniels, I expect them to look Pickens way often.  Pickens is a big play waiting to happen.  He is only $6400 bucks this week and I think that is way to cheap for someone that has the ability to put up Ja’Marr Chase numbers this year.
  • The QB position is till up in the air as of now for UGA, but if Dwan Mathis is in fact starting this week for UGA he could be a very solid play.  He is only $6700, and can create some big plays with his legs.  He is the fastest player on UGA’s roster, and statements made by players and alumni lead me to believe that if he is the guy, they will be looking to utilize his running ability early and often.  If it is JT at QB it will be more of the Air Raid offense I mentioned earlier.  I will keep our discord community updated on all of the latest news concerning this.
  • As far as the running game goes for UGA, I will be looking to get plenty of exposure to both Zamir White and James Cook.  Reports out of Georgia are that Monken has numerous packages where both RB’s are on the field at the same time.  Cook, has reportedly looked really good catching the ball out of the backfield and has made some jaw dropping runs.  White has been a force in fall camp as well, and big things are expected out of him this year.  Both of these guys are reasonably priced and are very solid plays.
  • Florida is another team that, like Georgia, could come in lower owned than they should.  Ole Miss does not offer much in terms of defense and we know that this Florida offense is capable of putting together very strong performances.  Kyle Trask will be leading the Florida offense, after having a very solid season last year.  Kyle Pitts is Trask’s top returning target, and I expect Trask to target Pitts often this year.  RB Malik Davis has been the talk of fall camp this year.  He is a guy that can make big plays and could have himself a breakout year this season.  He is only $4200 on DK and could provide you nice salary relief in tournaments.
