Slate Thoughts:

  • I am super pumped about tomorrow’s post-thanksgiving CFB slate! We have some really exciting matchups tomorrow especially the matchup between the Irish and the Tarheels, more on that one shortly! First we need to talk about the absolute smash spot that Xazavian Valladay finds himself in tomorrow. Valladay has averaged 26 carries and 130 yards per game. Valladay and the Cowboys will be taking on UNLV tomorrow, a team that has allowed over 215 rushing yards per game so far this year. Wyoming likes to lean on their run game, and this sets up for Valladay to have big time production.  He is my top RB on the slate!
  • Now, about that Notre Dame vs. UNC game.  UNC and Note Dame are both coming into this matchup arguably playing their best football of the season.  Just a couple weeks ago we watched Notre Dame beat Clemson in double OT, and UNC, they have been putting up video game like numbers.  I’ve rolled with UNC all season, and that will not change this week.  A lot of people seem to think highly of Notre Dame’s defense, I however find them to be over rated.  UNC has athletes for days at the wide receiver position and two stud running backs that can give any linebacker fits in the passing game.  UNC is clicking offensively right now, and I find it hard to believe that this Notre Dame team can contain them.  Howell/Brown/Newsome looks like a killer stack to me and that same stack took down several tournaments just a week ago.
  • Notre Dame does not have the same type of offensive fire power that UNC has, but they are more than capable of staying in this game, due to the lack of defense that UNC plays.  Ian Book is a solid play tomorrow due to the game environment he will be in.  The same can be said for Javon McKinley, his top pass catcher over the last few weeks.  McKinley has logged 15 receptions for nearly 250 yards over the last three weeks.  He is priced at only 4.3k and makes a fantastic stacking partner with Book.
  • UCF come into their matchup vs. USF as heavy favorites and will be able to do whatever they want to do vs. a very weak USF defense.  Dillon Gabriel has looked really solid this year, however, it does help when you have the type of talent he has surrounding him at WR.  Gabriel has a really solid floor tomorrow, but I am worried about his ceiling due to the potential blowout.  Tre Nixon returned last week and averaged a whopping 2.4 yards per reception.  That should change this week against a defense as bad as USF’s.  Nixon is a very talented receiver and should get his fair share of targets, and for only 5k, is a really solid play tomorrow.
  • Liberty has the highest implied total of any team on this slate, mainly due to having a Quarterback named Malik Willis.  He is really talented and should feast vs. this UMass team.  Willis is a dual threat QB who has 1800 passing yards and 17 passing TD’s on the season, he also has 744 rush yards and 9 touchdowns.  He is in a smash spot this weekend, and his price on DK reflects that.  He is extremely high priced tomorrow, but by far has the safest floor of any quarterback on this slate.  Willis should have a big day, and Liberty should win by a lot!
  • Another one of my favorite plays comes from the MAC tomorrow.  Running back Kobe Lewis will get a chance to run against one of the worst rush defenses in the MAC.  Eastern Michigan has allowed over 225 rush yards per game this year, and will have a hard time stopping one of the best running backs in the MAC.  Lewis has 285 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season, and is poised to add to that number in a big way.
  • Overall, we have a very fun slate ahead of us tomorrow and should have some high scoring contest.  UNC/ND should end up being a shootout, UCF and Liberty should score at will and I believe both the EMU/CMU and STAN/CAL games have the potential of being high scoring contest that many don’t have on their radars.
