Slate Thoughts:

  • This slate is loaded with fire power! I cannot wait to watch a few of these games this weekend, especially the Ohio State v. Indiana matchup!  Justin Fields will have an opportunity to keep his Heisman hopes alive vs. a top 25 ranked Indiana squad.  Fields has looked really good this year, just like a future NFL start should look.  I know many in the CFB industry think that Indiana can keep this competitive, but I think that Fields and the Buckeyes are going to run Indiana off the field.  I love Fields and his pass catchers this weekend. Both Olave and Wilson are really good plays this weekend, especially when stacked with Fields. Justin is my top QB this weekend, and will headline my main lineup!
  • I expect Fields and the Buckeyes to carry some ownership this weekend, which leads me to another strong play on the slate. Florida will be taking on a very poor Vandy team this weekend, a team they should beat by 60.  Kyle Trask is my current favorite to win the Heisman.  He has looked incredible this year.  This game does have a high chance to be a blow out, but blowout or not, I expect Trask to throw 4+ touchdowns this weekend.  Florida is not an effective team running the ball, so they will be throwing the ball quite often.  Kyle Pitts has been ruled out this weekend, so this gives a nice bump to both Toney and Grimes.  Grimes comes in at a very affordable price point, and is a great third piece to a Trask/Toney stack.   This is an expensive stack, and should be considered for gpps only, but I love the upside, and if Vandy can find some way to keep this within 2 touchdowns at halftime, Trask may be looking at a 6 touchdown type of day.  Remember Florida’s defense is AWFUL… soooo there is a chance that Vandy runs into a few touchdowns.
  • Cal will be taking on Oregon State this weekend, and both sides have advantageous spots they can target.  First, Chris Brown Jr. is in a very strong spot this weekend vs. Oregon States rush defense.  OSU allows over 200 rush yards per game, and we watched Brown Jr. have very strong games last year vs. teams with weak rush defenses.  I will be looking to take advantage of his matchup this weekend. On the other side, Oregon State loves to throw the ball, and will find plenty of open looks doing so vs. a weak pass defense.  I like the upside that Bradford has in this matchup, as he has proven to be the top WR for Oregon State.  I think this game has a decent chance to be high scoring.  Chris Brown Jr. from Cal and Trevon Bradford are my top two targets from this game.
  • Kenny Pickett and Pittsburg Panthers will be taking on Virginia Tech this weekend.  Virginia Tech has not had a very good year on the defensive side of the ball.  VT is allowing nearly 270 passing yards per game this year, something that I expect Pitt to target.  Pickett will be looking for his top target Addison early and often.  Addison has had a strong season, especially with Pickett under center.  I love the upside of this Pickett/Addison stack and feel that Addison is a very strong play in all formats due to his absurdly low price of $4900.  This game environment should be very favorable for this Pitt passing attack.
  • A team that continues to impress me on the offensive side of the ball is the Arkansas Razorbacks.  At times Franks looks really bad, but he does just enough with his legs and is willing to throw the ball down field to make him worth the risk most nights.  He along with Burks and Woods have looked really good when they are in matchups that are favorable to their passing attack.  They are in one of those matchups this weekend.  They will be facing LSU and a defense that has allowed over 330 pass yards per game.  This should be a track meet, which plays right into the hands of a Kendal Briles offense that loves to play fast!  I will be stacking Arkansas in my main GPP.
  • Overall, this is a really good slate, and I expect scores to be really high this weekend due to all the high powered offenses on this slate.  For cash games, I would start my builds with Justin Fields, who I think is clearly the best Quarterback play on this slate, and would stack him with one of his two WR’s.  Throw J. Addison into that build and go from there!
