Slate Thoughts:
- In this weeks slate of college football games, we have a bunch that could turn into shootouts. First, the number one game that is on my radar, and that should be on yours, is the Memphis @ SMU game. This game currently has a total sitting at 74. I expect this game to have plenty of fireworks and you will want to make sure you have pieces of this game in your cash lineups. Brady White and Shane Buechele are really good plays, but are priced pretty high. I think on FD you could make a case for the likes of Ehlinger and Lawrence over Buechele and White, since they are all in the same price range. Take your pick of any of the four. All of these quarterbacks are viable in all formats.
- As far as the other pieces of the SMU/Memphis game go, the top two receiving options, Damonte Coxie and Reggie Roberson, are great plays this weekend. Sean Dykes is also someone that stands out to me. He also may go over looked by many in this match-up. Dykes led Memphis in receiving yards in week 1, with 137, and finished second in targets.
- UCF have gotten off to a fantastic start this year and seem to be clicking on all cylinders on offense. Dillon Gabriel has shown great command of this offense. I think that they handle Tulsa pretty easily and push the pace in this game. Gabriel and Williams and Robinson could be deadly this week. I love UCF in all formats and I could see a case being made that they are the way to go in cash games over the likes of Memphis and SMU.
- I imagine, after last weeks performance, a lot of people will flock to Mississippi State and their air raid offense. This offense looked explosive, as you would expect a Leach offense to look. The Bulldogs will be facing a very poor Arkansas team that will not be able to slow down this air raid attack. Costello got a huge price bump this week after last weeks amazing performance. However, he isn’t even my favorite play from MSST. My favorite play from this team is Kylin Hill. Hill was heavily involved in every aspect of this offense last week, and I can see the same type of game from him this week. The trio of A. Willliams, Payton and Shavers are still priced to low on FD and make for great value options on this slate.
- Another team that I think could come in lower owned are the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Alan Bowman has been averaging 50 pass attempts per game, which gives him a very reasonable floor. Kansas State does not have a very good defense, and I do not see them slowing this passing attack down. If I were to play Alan Bowman, I would want to play TJ Vasher and KeSean Carter with him. I think this game has the potential to go over the projected total of 64. Carter is very reasonably priced, especially when you consider that Rigdon could miss this game due to a rib injury.
