Week 5
COLLEGE FOOTBALL FRIDAY!!! It feels like its been an eternity since the last CFB slate, but finally we have made it to a new week. We have a pretty good 4 game slate on tap this Friday! Below will be a quick look at some of the top plays on the slate. My core 4 for cash games will be posted at the end of the article. One thing to remember, play lighter on the Friday slates and play your normal volume on the main Saturday slate. My article for Saturdays main slate will be dropping tomorrow evening.
Game Spreads and Totals:
Duke @ Virginia Tech (-2.5) O/U 53
Penn State (-6.5) @ Maryland O/U 61.5
San Jose State @ Air Force (-19) O/U 57
Arizona State @ California (-4.5) O/U 41
Top Plays:
Ryan Willis (VT) FD: 9,500 DK: 7,400
Ryan Willis gets a tremendous match up this week against a Duke team that has struggled stopping opposing teams passing game. On the year Duke is giving up 284 ypg through the air. Virginia Tech plays at a pretty fast pace averaging nearly 80 plays per game. This game has a decent total of 52, so I expect VT to put up plenty of points Friday night, in big part due to Ryan Willis and the VT passing game. Willis is my favorite QB on the slate and he will be locked into my cash lineup.
Anthony McFarland (Maryland) FD: 9,400 DK: 7,700
Anthony McFarland has been an absolute animal so far this year! He gets a tough match up vs Penn State this week, but with his volume and ability to break big plays he is one of the best backs on the slate. Maryland plays at an extremely fast pace, averaging nearly 88 plays per game. Playing at this pace allows tons of opportunities for McFarland. McFarland is averaging nearly 5 yards per carry and has 5 touchdowns on the season. McFarland has not been a huge threat catching the ball, but does have 3 catches for 59 yards and touchdown on the season.
Dontay Demus Jr. (Maryland) FD: 7,500 DK: 5,500
Notice a theme here. On a 4 game slate I am looking to get a lot of pieces to one of the fastest offenses in the nation. Demus only had 3 receptions last game out, but was targeted 12 times by Jackson. I expect Jackson to be looking for Demus early and often, as the two have been building good chemistry with one another since week 1. Demus is explosive and has the ability to take the top off of a defense. Penn States weakness is in their secondary. Penn State is allowing around 300 ypg through the air, and I expect Jackson and his supporting cast to expose that weakness. Demus comes at a good price on FD and I believe we will get him at a lower ownership because of all the game log watchers!
Other noticeable targets:
QB Josh Jackson(Maryland), QB Quentin Harris (DUKE), RB Eno Benjamin(ASU), RB Marcel Darcey(CAL), WR Jalon Calhoun(DUKE), WR Tre Walker(SJST), WR Tre Turner(VT), TE Chigoziem Okonkwo (Maryland)
Bears Core:
Ryan Willis, Anthony McFarland, Eno Benjamin, Dontay Demus
