Week 5

Week 5 is upon us, and we have an exciting slate of games this week.  We get the shootout between Oklahoma and Texas Tech on Draftkings main slate this week, and the Game of the Week between Ohio State and Nebraska on Fanduel!  I love how the slates are shaping up on each site and expect this to be a successful week for Karma Nation.   If you have not already signed up to join us in Discord or gain access to our CFB core plays, please visit dfskarma.com.

Top games to target:

Ohio State @ Nebraska O/U 66.5

Texas Tech @ Oklahoma  O/U 72

Wake Forest @ Boston College  O/U 69.5

Ole Miss @ Alabama O/U 61

High Tier

QB:  Jamie Newman (Wake Forest):  FD 10,300  DK 7,800

Jamie Newman and the Wake Forest offense have been on fire to start the season.  This week they get Boston College on the road.  Boston College has been playing extremely poor defense this year.  Boston College’s defense is giving up 180 ypg on the ground and over 260 ypg through the air.  Jamie Newman isn’t just a passing threat, he is also a threat to run.  Newman has thrown for over 1200 yards this year with 12 passing touchdowns, while also adding 160 yards on the ground with 3 rushing touchdowns. Wake Forest has one of the fastest paced offenses in the country ranking 10th nationally with 82 plays per game.  The total in this game is set at 69 with a spread of only 7.  This should be a high scoring affair and I want a lot of pieces to this game on both DK and FD.

Consider: Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) DK 9,200 (Cash)

RB: AJ Dillon (Boston College):  FD 9,700  DK 6,500

There are many top end RB options on this slate, it was hard to choose only one.  I love JK Dobbins this week along with AJ Dillon.  I figured I would stay with a player from a game that has a total slowly approaching 70.  AJ Dillon has been an absolute beast this year for Boston College.  Dillon is the cornerstone to BC’s offense, and is someone that gets plenty of opportunities throughout a game.  The Boston College offense is one of the fastest in the nation, averaging almost 85 plays per game.  Dillon is averaging 25 carries per game and almost 120 yards per game.  Wake Forest defense is allowing around 140 yards per game on the ground this year.  Dillon should dominate in this match up.

Consider: JK Dobbins (Ohio St.) FD 9,900 ;   Najee Harris (ALA)  FD 9,300  DK 6,900

WR: Jerry Jeudy (Alabama):  FD 10,100  DK 8,100

There is not much that needs to be said about Jeudy.  He is one of, if not the most, explosive receivers in college football.  Jeudy is not only explosive in his own right, but he also plays in one of the most explosive offenses in the country.  I love Jeudy in this matchup vs a very vulnerable Ole Miss secondary.  Jeudy is a big play machine and I can see him having his best game of the season this year! Bama will destroy Ole Miss.

Mid Tier

QB: Dillon Gabriel (UCF) FD 9,000

Dillon Gabriel has been playing well to start the season.  Last week was a tough one for all of the UCF fans out there, watching their teams national championship hopes be crushed by Pitt.  Anyways, Gabriel has a great match up this week against a very weak team in UCONN.  I think UCF bounces back this week in a big way, and I believe Gabriel crushes in this spot.  UCONN will have no answers for Gabriel and the rest of the UCF offense.

Consider: Jett Duffey (Texas Tech) DK 5,900;  Anthony Brown (Boston College) FD 9,000

RB: FD PLAY: Greg McCrae (UCF) 7,600 ;  DK PLAY:  Isaiah Spiller (Texas A&M) 5,100

Greg McCrae is in a great spot this week vs. a Uconn team that struggles stopping opposing teams running games.  UCF has three capable backs, but McCrae is priced low enough to where he should get enough run to pay off his price tag, and is at a nice discount compared to Killins.  Uconn has allowed nearly 160 yards per game on the ground this year.  I expect UCF to break off some big runs, or at the very least be in position where they can punch in a few short TD’s.

Isaiah Spiller is in a nice bounce back spot this week vs. an Arkansas defense that just got absolutely torched by San Jose State.  Arkansas has by far the worst defense in the SEC.  Spiller struggled last week vs. a very tough Auburn defense, but has a great chance to get back on track this week.  Jimbo loves to establish the run in games and is someone that usually rides his work horse back.  Spiller should see plenty of opportunities this week and I could see this being the week he breaks out.  He is an extremely talented back, and has had to shoulder more responsibility since the injury to Corbin.  I am not worried about Kibodi out snapping Spiller, as Spiller is far more talented.  Spiller has huge upside this week at his price.

Consider: Richard Newton (Washington) FD 8,300 DK 5,200; Elijah Collins (Michigan St.) FD 8,600

WR: FD Play:  Bryan Edwards (S. Carolina)  8,1000 ; DK Play Charleston Rambo (Oklahoma) 5,600

Bryan Edwards is someone that I targeted last week in one of my main gpp builds because he was severely under priced for someone of his ability.  It is a new week and I believe FD still severely under priced Bryan Edwards especially for his role in the offense and for the ability he possesses.  Edwards has been seeing an increase in targets since Hilinski took over at quarterback.  Kentucky has been allowing over 250 yards per game through the air, and I expect South Carolina to try and get the ball to its top play maker in Bryan Edwards once again.

Charleston Rambo has been a stud for Oklahoma so far this year.  He is a tough, physical wide receiver that has the ability to build up yards after the catch.  On DK’s main slate I want to get as many pieces of the Oklahoma offense that I can get, along with pieces from the Wake Forest and Boston College game.  The Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech game will be a high scoring affair, and Rambo will have plenty of opportunities to put up big numbers.  He comes in at a very affordable price this week.  I will be pairing him with Hurts in my DK cash line.

Consider: Rashod Bateman (Minn) FD 8,400; Scotty Washington (WF) FD 8,300 DK 6,900

Value

RB: Sean McGrew (Washington) FD 6,300  DK 3,700

Salvon Ahmed appears to be doubtful to play this week.  If Ahmed does in fact miss this week, it will open up some much needed value for us to fit in some of the studs.  Ahmed had 18 rush attempts last week for 110 yards.  McGrew should see plenty of action along with Newton as long as Ahmed is out.  Washington will be facing a weak USC rush defense this week.  Washington should lean on the run this game in hopes of wearing down the USC defense, and also by doing so it will allow them to keep the USC offense off of the field.  I will keep an eye on Ahmed’s injury status going into Saturday.
