It’s officially time to buy low on Jameis Winston. Everyone has written him off after a bad first game because of high expectations. In 2018, he threw 30+ pass attempts in 8 of his 11 games. In those games, he’s averaging 311 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1.3 interceptions. He has also added 258 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground in those games. Overall, he averaged 23 fantasy points per game in those contests. Winston was also expected to take a step forward this season. While he may never be a good quarterback, that doesn’t matter for fantasy purposes. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a relatively weak running game to lean on, and they feature an implied team total of 21.3 points tonight. It’s time to stop believe in Winston’s real football potential, but we can still buy into his fantasy potential at this point.
This is a relatively simple play. Matt Gay only kicked one field goal with two extra-points last week. With that being said, I’m expecting the Tampa Bay offense to take a step forward in this game. The Carolina Panthers played a bend, but don’t break offense last week, allowing Greg Zuerlein to attempt four field goals with three extra-points. While I don’t believe Tampa Bay’s offense is as potent as the Los Angeles Rams, they should still see plenty of opportunities to score. The only concern with Gay is that Tampa Bay consistently scores, causing him to kick extra-points over field goals, but that isn’t the most likely scenario in this game.
NOTE: Use Greg Olsen OVER 8.5 fantasy points over Matt Gay.
Play 1 unit on Jameis Winston OVER 18.8 fantasy points and Matt Gay OVER 7.0 fantasy points to win 2.5 units (2.5x)
