And now, for the intel…

Important Notes

The most important note for StatHero is their scoring system. It’s different from what you’re likely used to, and we need to note what the most important aspects are. Quarterbacks are far and away the most important position, specifically passing yards. They get 0.05 fantasy points for every 1 passing yard compared to only 0.1 fantasy points per 1 rushing or receiving yard. For instance, a quarterback would receive 15 fantasy points for 300 yards passing. He would need 3.75 passing touchdowns to reach that. Running backs and receivers would need 150 yards to hit that number. They would need 2.5 touchdowns to score 15 fantasy points.

Tight ends are another major part of their scoring. They will receive 1.5 fantasy points per reception, while running backs and wide receivers only receive 1 fantasy point per reception. With StatHero’s current scoring system, it could be a key to stack a team with a dominant quarterback and tight end pairing to go along with the other options on the offense.

The final scoring that could make or break your lineup is the distance bonus. Quarterbacks receive a slightly smaller bonus for long passing touchdowns, while running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends get a bit more of a bonus for touchdowns. Ultimately, you want touchdowns to come from 10+ yards out, which is where the distance bonus’ start at.

Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan/Devonta Freeman/Julio Jones/Calvin Ridley/Austin Hooper

The Atlanta Falcons have featured one of the higher upside offenses in the NFL this season. They are averaging 391.3 total yards per game in 2019. Atlanta is due for positive scoring regression, as they are only averaging 22.5 points per game. They get a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, who are giving up 346.8 total yards and 25.7 points per game this season. The Falcons are +3 point underdogs in a game set at 54.5 points, giving them an implied team total of 25.8 points.

Matt Ryan has quietly been an elite option at quarterback throughout the season. He has thrown for 300+ yards in each of his 6 games in 2019. Ultimately, he’s averaging a healthy 335.2 passing yards per game. Ryan is also averaging 2.5 passing touchdowns per game in those contests. He struggled early in the season with interceptions, but the only true negative for interceptions are when they are returned for touchdowns, which is impossible to predict. Ryan’s is close to a lock for 300+ passing yards, and his potential for deep touchdowns make him one of the best quarterbacks on the slate.

Devonta Freeman struggled a bit early this season, but he has caught fire over his last three games. Over that span, he has run for 146 yards on 42 carries. While those numbers aren’t elite, Freeman flashed with 88 yards last week after struggling the 2 weeks prior. Most importantly, he has recorded 16 receptions for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 targets in those games. Freeman comes with quite a bit of upside, and he adds to the value of Ryan in this stack.

Julio Jones has flashed in 2019, but he hasn’t been the elite option that many have come to expect. Through 6 games, he has posted 34 receptions for 467 yards and 4 touchdowns. Jones ranks 10th in the NFL in targets (53), while also ranking third in air yards (671). He enters this game with a 12.7 aDOT, and his big play ability adds to the upside of this stack with the distance scoring bonuses. Ultimately, Jones has left quite a bit of yards on the table in 2019, and he’s a player that comes with elite upside on a weekly basis.

Calvin Ridley has been somewhat of a boom or bust option for Atlanta. He has recorded 25 receptions for 343 yards and 4 touchdowns on 38 targets this season. In games with a touchdown, Ridley is averaging 5.3 receptions for 76.3 yards and 1 touchdown on 7.8 targets per game. While he has seen somewhat of limited targets in 2019, Ridley has seen 544 air yards and a 14.3 aDOT. He’s a big play waiting to happen, as 3 of his 4 touchdowns have come from 20+ yards out.

Austin Hooper has been arguably the best tight end in the NFL this season. He currently leads the league in receptions (42), while ranking second in targets (50), receiving yards (480), and receiving touchdowns (3), fourth in air yards, and third in YAC (192). He truly has been an elite option for Atlanta, and the added 0.5 fantasy point per reception only adds to his overall upside.

This group has seen 17 red zone targets in 2019. They currently account for 65.4% of Atlanta’s red zone targets this season. While we’re looking for long touchdowns for upside, adding red zone targets adds to the overall floor. The goal is simply to advance in this situation, and the Falcons are the top stacking option on this slate.
