Rush Hour – Cincinnati Bengals/Miami Dolphins
Joe Mixon got off to a dreadful start this season, but he has been a much larger part of the offense recently. Over his last 7 games, Mixon is averaging 95.9 yards on 21.0 carries per game. Mixon has also posted 136 and 146 yards on 25 and 23 carries in his last 2 games. He gets an elite matchup against the Miami Dolphins. They are allowing 140.9 rushing yards per game this season, ranking second last in the NFL. Miami has also given up 4.6 yards per carry this season. While it isn’t overly likely, Mixon has the potential to exceed this limit by himself. The Cincinnati Bengals should continue to ride their top offensive player in an elite matchup.
Patrick Laird has taken on a larger role recently. He has seen 10+ carries in each of his last 3 games. Over that span, he has totaled 99 rushing yards. Laird has also posted 46 and 48 rushing yards in his last 2 games. Most importantly, he gets an elite matchup against the Bengals. They are allowing a league-high 158.0 rushing yards per game this season. They have also given up 4.9 yards per carry in 2019. Laird doesn’t have the same rushing potential as Mixon, but he could post 40+ rushing yards again this week. This total is set absurdly low for two teams allowing the most rushing yards in the NFL this season.
