Slate Thoughts:
Tonight we get a slate that has 4 games, and all four have a chance to be won by the underdogs. This in particular makes it a very challenging slate for cash games. If I were to play cash games, I would look at locking in FPX as my main team. They are facing a BLG team that has shown they have what it takes to hang with, and beat some of the better teams in the LPL. However, I feel like this FPX team is over all more talented, has advantages in every lane, and will come out victorious in this series. FPX are coming off of a complete dud vs. IG where they were swept in pretty embarrassing fashion. I do not expect that type of outcome here tonight, but a BLG upset cannot be completely ruled out. If you decide to ride with the dog in this matchup, you will be getting them at some of the lowest prices on the slate. FPX and BLG both average around 20 deaths per loss, giving them both nice upside in wins here. I have FPX 2-1 here, and expect some very good kill numbers coming from this game.
The other LPL matchup that we have tonight is between two teams that have had two completely different starts to the split. We have LGD who have beat some very talented teams in the LPL, in JDG, Sunning and IG, and currently sit at 5th in the standings. While on the other side we have RNG, who have only won a single series, and that was against Rogue Warriors. For LGD, Shad0w has led this squad in kill participation. He is the engine that makes this team go, and I do believe he is going to present some challenges for this RNG squad. Beyond that matchup, I really like RNG H2H in all other areas, and on paper they are the more talented team. However, they have been the more talented team in the majority of their matches and are still finding ways to lose. I’m going to side with LGD here, just because RNG have shown me no reason to have any confidence in them. RNG are definitely talented and if they finally figure things out, I see no reason why they couldn’t sweep this series, which is why I will have some exposure to them. LGD is my pick though, and I think Shad0w shows out here and had a big series. He is my top option from LGD, and LGD is my favorite tournament team tonight.
Finally, we have Damwon back on the slate, coming off of a solid showing vs. Gen where they just absolutely dismantled them. They had Ghost back in the ADC role, and looked like the DK team that we expected to see from the very beginning. They have brought up Rahel in anticipation of him taking over the ADC role, but after the way they looked vs. Gen it would not surprise me if they continue to roll with Ghost. We will not know this however, until around 2 am est time when they release their lineups.. I would totally avoid the ADC position if I were to play them, which I probably will. I think a lot of people will be off of the them tonight for that very reason, but I do believe we can play the guys, especially in a small stack, who are fairly safe to keep their spots. This makes Showmaker, Canyon, BeryL and Khan all viable options for me tonight. I think they come with decent upside here, and if their last match was a glimpse into what is to come for this squad, they could be a very sneaky strong play tonight.
My predictions for tonight are as follows:
FPX win 2-1; LGD win 2-1; DK win 2-1; NS win 2-1
Good luck tonight! Cores for both FD and DK will be posted on the site tonight.
