Slate Thoughts:
My main lineup will begin and end with playing G2. I do not know how you get away from them in cash games today. They have the highest projected kill total on the entire slate, and have one of the softest matchups on the slate. Astralis will not be able to compete in this one, and I expect G2 to win this matchup in quick but bloody fashion. If you plan on pairing G2 with a team like FNC you will need to roster Mikyx as your captain, but if you plan on pairing them with RGE or maybe even MAD you could potentially get to Wunder.
FNC is my second favorite team on this slate, as they come into this matchup vs. Vitality as -500 favorites with an implied kill total of 19. I don’t know if there is a hotter team in the LEC than FNC. They recently upset top dogs G2, and have won their last 4 overall. FNC actually lead the LEC in Kills/game, and rank second in GPM, DRA% and GD@15 min. I really expect FNC to have not problems here, and would not be surprised if they end up out scoring G2. As much as I love G2 in cash, I really like fading G2 in tournaments and playing FNC with a RGE, MAD, XL or S04.
After the obvious top two teams, I will be getting exposure to both sides of the XL/MAD game and also some RGE and SO4. SO4 probably have the lowest ceiling of all of these teams, but we have seen them in the past pop off randomly and be one of the highest scoring teams on the slate. The MAD/XL match looks like it could be one that pays off big time for the side that pulls out the win. MAD have had times this split where they look really strong, and times where they just look absolutely lost. MAD do, however, lead XL in GPM, GD@15, DRA%, FB% and HER%. MAD can really score well in wins, and this is definitely a matchup they could put up a ton of kills. So, statistically you would be led to believe that MAD should win this one, but XL have really come into their own recently. They are a team that like to scale, and have one of the best Mid to late game ratings in the LEC. I slightly lean MAD here, but I will get some exposure to XL today in tournaments. If XL is able to pull off the upset here, they could end up being optimal due to MAD’s tendency to die a lot in losses. Not to mention they fit nicely with G2 or FNC in tournaments. It is worth noting that XL have won 4 out of their last 5 matches.
