Karma Nation! The Azaleas are blooming and that can mean only 1 thing, It’s time for the best golf tournament of the year, The Masters! We are coming into this event off a near break even tournament losing -.6 units last week. There are some great opportunities with the match-ups posted for the Masters. As we head into the seasons first major we sit at +21.95 units for the season.

Course Preview:

Hello Friends, it’s time for a tradition unlike any other, The Masters! Augusta National is a par 72 spanning 7,435 yards. Last year Augusta played at a average of 72.9 strokes nearly 1 full stroke over par. The greens are bent grass and will be the fastest greens played on tour usually supporting speeds of up to 14+ on the stimpmeter! The weather will make it’s presents felt this weekend, it has already rained today causing practice rounds to shorten. This will also benefit the bombers even more as the wet fairways wont produce much roll out. Players that can hit their irons high and land softly on the greens will have the advantage, because if you don’t hit the correct level it may be near impossible to get up and down. The 11th hole played as the hardest hole last year playing at nearly half a stroke over par at 4.4. The 12th hole is a short par 3 with a narrow green being guarded by Rae’s Creek. The changing unpredictable winds challenge even the best ball strikers in the game. This hole has crushed many golfers dreams of winning the Masters. Holes 13 & 15 are both reachable in 2 par 5s that play the easiest on the course both averaging a score of 4.6. You must score on these holes to climb the leaderboard. If you can play your 2nd shots great and hit the required spots and make some putts you will be in contention to put on that green jacket Sunday afternoon.

The Bets:

Hideki Matsuyama +105 vs Jason Day

Hideki has gained at least 13 strokes T2G in his last 2 events. He leads the field in SG: Approach and is top 10 in 7 other stats I’m weighting heavy this week. His only downfall has been his putting, but if he can just break even putting he’s in for a monster day. Hideki has gained 5,7,9,12 SG total in his last 4 trips to Augusta. Jason Day ranks outside the top 25 in 7 key stats in his past 24 rounds that I’m looking into. He has some back pain worries as he comes into Augusta.

The Play: Hideki Matsuyama +105 1u

Paul Casey -135 vs Francesco Molinari.

Paul Casey -105 vs. Jordan Speith

Paul Casey enters Augusta in the best form he’s ever been in, coming off a win at Valspar. He also have 2 other Top 3 finishes since Febuary. Casey has gained 10+ SG total in 3 of his last 5 events. In Casey’s last 4 trips to the Master’s he went 15th,6th,4th,6th gaining 10+ SG total in 3 of the 4 and 7 SG total last year. Everything is pointing towards another strong Top 10 performance here.

The Play: Paul Casey -135 1u

The Play: Paul Casey -105 1u

Jon Rahm -135 vs Tiger Woods.

With the rain softening up the fairways and maximizing driving distance this gives Rahm a big advantage over Tiger. Rahm is #5 in driving distance and #3 in SG off the tee. Tiger is #59 in driving distance and #28th in SG off the tee. Over the past 24 rounds Rahm is 10th is SG Par 5s compared to Tigers 42nd. If the wind does start blowing Rahm has a +2.5 strokes gained is heavy wind conditions. Rahm has gained 7+ SG total in 6 of his past 7 events and is coming off a 6th place finish at Valspar. He also gained 13 SG total here at Augusta last year in his 4th place finish.

The Play: Jon Rahm -135 1u

Bonus Play: Patrick Cantlay -135 over Gary Woodland

Paul Casey T20 -120 1u

Matt Kuchar T20 +135 1u

Matthew Fitzpatrick T20 +300

Viktor Hovland +120 to make the cut

To Win Bets:

Tommy Fleetwood 25-1

Hideki Matsuyama 28-1

Sergio Garcia 50-1
