Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • Tonight is a decent 5 game slate with a lot of plays in fast paced match-ups. The most important thing for cash games is deciding where to pay up, as there is a good amount of value on both sites. With Giannis out, it makes things a lot more chalkier because we have to lock Middleton and have to consider all Bucks players.
  • If we are starting roster construction on FanDuel or DraftKings, Khris Middleton. Middleton will be locked on both sites because of the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is currently reported as doubtful to play tonight which should make Middleton #1 priority in the offense. DiVincenzo gets a good boost as well as Brook Lopez.
  • We must break down Milwaukee if Giannis is out, and if there is one guy I am going to target for value it would be George Hill. They are already missing Bledsoe and now going to be missing a huge ball dominant guy in Giannis. George Hill should pick up most ball handling duties which will give him more time on the court compared to his 20-25 minutes he usually gets. I expect him to get more time on the court tonight being that he is one of their most trusted players. Another player I will probably target for value is Ersan Ilyasova, who is usually a plug and play once Giannis is out (in the past).
  • Once you lock in Middleton, I would look to pair him with people from either GS/PHO or OKC/CHA. Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Draymond Green. These players will be part of the cash core. However, for Tournaments, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different”. I would use the other plays listed below to differentiate yourself from the field.
  • Overall I am going to be pretty balanced on both sites as the pricing is soft today.
  • Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups.  This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight.  There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter.
  • The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Middleton) include (in order of preference):
      • Chris Paul
      • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
      • Trae Young
      • George Hill
      • Ricky Rubio
      • D’angelo Russell
      • Devin Booker
      • Dante DiVincenzo
      • Damion Lee
      • Kelly Oubre
      • Alec Burks
      • Draymond Green
      • John Collins
      • Aaron Gordon
      • Joel Embiid
      • Steven Adams
      • Nick Vucevic
      • Brook Lopez
  • We’re still waiting on a few pieces of information, so keep your eyes peeled.
  • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
  • Game stack could be the MIL/ATL game. I love the pace of both teams and the lack of defense without Giannis should be prevalent. The Bucks defense against shooters really makes me consider all the wing shooters of the Hawks. I think this game has potential to be very close and competitive.
