Thoughts:
Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.
- Great 6 game slate tonight! We have a ton of info that was released early- no Kemba Walker, Payton/DSJ not likely to play. This opens up a ton of value tonight. All of Boston is in play for me and I’m considering a full 4 man Boston stack. Kemba leads the Celtics with a 28.6% usage rate, and guys like Hayward, Tatum, Smart, Brown and Kanter will pick up the usage. For the Knicks, with Payton and DSJ unlikely to play, Frank will start most likely and play as much as he can vs PHX. Love the spot.
- If we are starting roster construction on both sites, I would start with Gordon Hayward. Boston is my favorite team stack and I think it starts with Hayward. Although guys like Wanamaker and Smart will be chalk, I think Hayward will get the biggest usage bump in my opinion. Unless Wanamaker somehow starts, I would rank Hayward as my top Boston player. My projected starting lineup for Boston is Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Theis. I would lock in Hayward on both sites.
- To pair with Hayward, I would look for Frank Ntilikina to be my second piece on both sites. I love the matchup he gets and should have an expanded role with DSJ and Payton unlikely to play. He’s cheap, has defensive stats upside.
- With those players I suggested above, it is now time to jam in a stud. My studs will come from the Lakers tonight. I love LeBron and Anthony Davis. Davis is cheap but hasn’t been producing fantasy wise over the last week. However, I believe this is a perfect bounce back for him and I think they’ll force feed him tonight. If you want to game stack the game, I would really love Pelicans for GPPs, Holiday, Ingram, Ball all have a chip on their shoulders and have a narrative tonight. Love them to be low owned.
- Boston remains my top team stack and would not mind a 4 man stack. I would start with Hayward, round it out with Smart for cheap, Brown for pricier side. Wanamaker is sort of a punt unless he starts.
- Now, for tournaments, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different”. I would use the other plays listed below to differentiate yourself from the field.
- Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups. This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight. There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter
- The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Hayward, Ntlikina, one of Boston players [Tatum, Brown, Smart])
-
- LeBron James
- Anthony Davis
- Damian Lillard
- Julius Randle
- Hassan Whiteside
- DeAndre Ayton
- Mitchell Robinson
- CJ McCollum
- Brandon Ingram
- Jrue Holiday
- Devin Booker
- RJ Barrett
- James Harden
- Enes Kanter
- We’re still waiting on a few pieces of information, so keep your eyes peeled.
- Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible. More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments. (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
- New Orleans vs Lakers could very well be the game stack of the night. Pelicans play fast and in the first meeting it was very fast and competitive. Both teams have a chip on their shoulder and will be playing hard. I love the Lakers studs and running it back with Pelicans.
