Sriracha’s 2020 NBA Free Agency Recap

Hey everyone! Sriracha (Tristan) back here, and I’m so glad to be writing this article for you guys after a little hiatus. We are under a month away from NBA basketball, so I’ll review th significant re-signings, players that signed with new teams, the major trades, and the major role changes. We’re gonna be focusing on the major transactions and their expected results, so don’t expect any analysis on something like Drew Eubanks’ 3-year deal.

The upcoming NBA season will start on December 22, and we have our NBA season-long packages available. If you’re considering joining us for the season, our season-long option offers our NBA cores, MKF and PrizePicks props, our Final Thoughts, the optimizer, and more!

*using projected starting lineups*

Major MAX Contract Re-signings:

Donovan Mitchell

Jayson Tatum

De’Aaron Fox

Brandon Ingram

Bam Adebayo

*Possible deals to happen in the near future:

Giannis Antetokounmpo – Extension

Anthony Davis – Re-sign

All of these young stars got PAID. Overall, these young stars deserved this pay day, and expect another great season from this group. Their roles shouldn’t change much this year, Tatum should definitely benefit from Gordon Hayward leaving. Brandon Ingram should have another all-star season, especially with no Jrue Holiday this year. Their roles should be pretty similar to last year, and I’m proud of these studs for getting paid.

Western Conference Teams:

Dallas Mavericks:

Josh Richardson * (via trade):

Josh Richardson is a great piece for this team. I expect the Mavericks to do some big things this season and get another shot in the playoffs. He provides a gritty play style that compliments Luka Doncic and is similar to what Dallas already has with Hardaway and Finney-Smith. He should be a starter on this squad. The Mavericks have a lot of versatility with their players, so I can see a situation where Richardson sees a decline in minutes and other statistical categories, but he should have an impactful role for this playoff bound team.

James Johnson * (via trade):

Johnson is a great player for this squad as well. He adds the tenacity and fierceness that Dallas needs. He won’t get a ton of run but he should be able to log some minutes off the bench. I don’t see him being relevant for fantasy unless some injuries pop up. He has to earn his minutes over Finney-Smith, Dwight Powell, Kristaps Porzingis, and Maxi Kleber.

Wes Iwundu – (???):

I don’t see Iwundu getting a lot of time for this squad. He could play a Justin Jackson role but I don’t see him getting much more than maybe 15-20 minutes a game. Irrelevant fantasy wise.

Denver Nuggets:

JaMychal Green – 15 mil / 2 years:

He should see some good bench minutes and replace Jerami Grant, to an extent. I still expect Michael Porter to make a huge leap this year and finally get a consistent role for this team. Green should get 18-24 mins off the bench. He will likely be irrelevant for fantasy barring an injury.

Golden State Warriors:

Kelly Oubre Jr. * (via trade):

Oubre should be a huge part of this team after what happened to Klay Thompson. Prayers up to Klay. Oubre should fit perfectly in with Curry, Wiggins, Green and Wiseman. Oubre provides length, athleticism, and has formed into a decent all around player in PHX. He should be a very relevant fantasy player this season, and I’m excited to see what this team can do. At first I was skeptical of his role but with Klay going down, that should thrust Oubre into a starting role.

Brad Wanamaker – 2.2 mil / 2 year:

Wanamaker should slide into the bench rotation and provide good depth for the Warriors. He has a good feeling for the game and he should play a role behind Steph, but I don’t see him being relevant fantasy wise.

Kent Bazemore – ??? / 1 year:

Back to the bay goes Kent Bazemore. He should pick up the backup guard/forward role but shouldn’t see much fantasy relevance.

Houston Rockets:

Christian Wood – 41 mil / 3 years:

Great pickup for this Rockets squad that is deciding to go back to the traditional style of basketball after Harden and Westbrook came out and said they didn’t like small ball. Wood is primed for a big season. I think they either start him at the 5 and have DeMarcus Cousins come off the bench as he is eased back into the flow of the game, or slide him to the 4 alongside Cousins. Either way, playing with Harden and/or Westbrook should bode well for Wood, and he has flashed elite fantasy upside given the time.

DeMarcus Cousins – Veteran’s Minimum:

Good pickup for the Rockets here taking a shot at Boogie who has been going through a plethora of injuries. I feel so bad for him but this is a perfect opportunity to bounce back and take advantage of the opportunity presented. He has the opportunity to have a huge season if his body can handle 60+ games. I can see him resting here and there.

Sterling Brown – ????:

He should have somewhat of a role for this team off the bench behind Russ/Harden/EG. With Rivers leaving he will get some run, and although he won’t be very relevant fantasy wise I can see him having a decent role for this Rockets squad.

Los Angeles Clippers:

Marcus Morris – 64 mil / 4 years:

He seems to have been a little overpaid, but I mean they needed to get him back. With Harrell out of the picture and Ibaka in, I don’t see Morris’s role changing drastically. I think that he will still see some relevance in good matchups, and in the occasion where Kawhi sits he will benefit like last year.

Serge Ibaka – 19 mil/ 2 years:

Will slot right into that Harrell role. I’m curious to see if the Clippers start Zubac at center. I assume they will ,and then have Ibaka play that Harrell role where he closes out games. Ibaka should be a centerpiece for this team.

Luke Kennard * (via trade):

Now this is a very, very, good trade for the Clippers. They were able to acquire this young, up and coming all-around lefty who has flashed excellence at times during the 2020 season. He can control the pace well and can play on and off the ball. The Clippers can definitely use him off the bench alongside Lou and slot him into the 2/3 spot where he can flourish. Don’t be surprised if he starts taking on a legit role for this team.

Los Angeles Lakers:

Dennis Schroder * (via trade):

Great pickup for the Lakers here. I love this guy and they have the perfect big to run these P&Rs with him. He will be a very important part of the Lakers offense. Whether he comes off the bench or starts, he will get a good amount of looks in the half court offense with AD and Harrell coming off the roll. Expect high assist numbers here! With Rondo out, he will get that facilitator role, with ability to score for himself.

Marc Gasol – 5.3 mil / 2 year:

Another solid, solid pickup. He should either slot into the starting role or play a good chunk of minutes off the bench. I don’t see him being extremely productive fantasy wise. He should play his role for the Lakers, which is stretch the floor, pass the ball, and defend.

Wes Matthews – 3.6 mil / 1 year:

Good replacement for Danny Green. I don’t see him having a great fantasy season but I think that he is able to replicate what Green did last season to an extent. He will likely be under 4.5k this season.

Montrezl Harrell – 19 Mil / 2 year:

Best pickup for the Lakers. Most surprising honestly. He should be a monster for them playing alongside LeBron and AD. It should be interesting to see what happens with his role. Will he start? I think he comes off the bench, but sees 28-30 minutes a night. I love his energy. This should be a productive season for him.

Alfonzo McKinnie * (via trade):

Depth signing. Little significance.

Memphis Grizzlies:

Mario Hezonja – ????:

Grizzlies really did little to nothing in the market in the offseason. They should be primed for another decent season, I just don’t see them making the playoffs. Hezonja shouldn’t add anything special to this team other than depth.

Minnesota Timberwolves:

Ricky Rubio * (via trade):

Welcome back Ricky Rubio! I don’t see him having a huge season but he should be a good mentor for the Wolves guards in Edwards and Russell. He should be the main backup point guard with great leadership qualities. I just don’t see him having fantasy relevance behind Edwards (1st pick) and Russell.

New Orleans Pelicans:

Eric Bledsoe * (via trade):

Should have a little more freedom here with the Pelicans and has more weapons to work with that don’t take up that much usage. I’m curious to see what they do with Lonzo and Bledsoe.

Steven Adams * (via trade):

Should slot right into the starting center spot. They even re-signed him, so they definitely like Adams. I think that he should play a similar role like what he did in OKC, and the Pelicans present more scoring & rebound opportunities for him. He should have a solid season and I like him running with Lonzo/Bledsoe/Ingram/Zion. He should get a lot of put-back opportunities too. My only concern is closing games.

Willy Hernangomez – ??? / 1 year:

He actually might fight for that backup C spot with Jaxson Hayes, but should have little fantasy relevance.

Wenyen Gabriel/Sindarius Thornwell:

Little fantasy relevance other than depth. I see them getting a few minutes here and there but nothing important.

Oklahoma City Thunder:

Al Horford * (via trade):

Thunder made like a dozen moves but I don’t think they are quite done yet. The only guy who is definitely staying is Al Horford. He should get a decent role here and is freed from Philadelphia where he had an up and down experience. He should slot right into that 4/5 spot. Without Steven Adams he will get a ton of opportunities to have a revitalized season. Will his old body be able to produce efficiently? I have no clue.

Phoenix Suns:

Chris Paul * (via trade):

Finally! We will hopefully see the Suns back in the playoffs. Chris Paul is exactly what this team needs, a veteran leader that will make everyone around him better. I’m excited to see what this team can do. They went 8-0 in the bubble and now picked up Chris Paul, who will just take this team to a whole different level. This gives a bump to Booker and Ayton especially.

Jae Crowder – 30 mil / 3 year:

GREAT signing. This will give them a 3&D specialist, and he brings a lot to the table with his tenacity and grit. He will be a solid player and should see a similar role with his playing time and production like last year in Miami.

Damian Jones – ??? / 2 year:

Shouldn’t be that relevant behind Ayton but I like this guy if anything happens to Ayton. He has a long frame and will benefit from the guards that will get him open looks. Just a depth signing.

E’Twaun Moore/Langston Galloway:

Depth signings that shouldn’t see a lot of time behind Booker/Cam Johnson/Mikal Bridges/Jae Crowder.

Portland Trail Blazers:

Robert Covington * (via trade):

Huge win here for the Blazers. This is a perfect fit for them. He provides a 3&D play with grit and tenacity. This is a huge, huge, pickup for them and I think this will push them into the playoffs next season. His perimeter shooting and defense will bode well for this team, and I love him next to Lillard, McCollum, Anthony and Nurkic.

Derrick Jones Jr – 19 mil / 2 year:

I don’t know why they gave him this contract with Melo/Cov/Hood there.  I guess he’s a decent bench/role player? I expect Gary Trent to have another good season. This ia an interesting signing with little fantasy relevance.

Harry Giles – ????:

A lot of bigs in front of him with Kanter/Nurkic/Collins but he could get some run here and there. No fantasy relevance.

Sacramento Kings:

Nothing at all so far, other than Fox re-signing.

San Antonio Spurs:

Nothing relevant.

Utah Jazz:

Derrick Favors – 30 mil / 3 year:

Welcome back Derrick Favors! They should slot him either back into the starting lineup, or backup 4 behind Royce O’Neale. He could even see backup C minutes behind Gobert. He should have a solid season.

Eastern Conference Teams:

Milwaukee Bucks:

Jrue Holiday * (via trade):

Jrue Holiday doesn’t need much explaining besides the fact that he will be a key piece to the Bucks chance for a championship run. Last year, the Bucks looked like an absolute unit going into the playoffs, and then fell flat once there. Jrue’s defensive ability will help a lot more compared to Eric Bledsoe’s, and his more consistent ability to score will be a great improvement as well.

Bobby Portis – 8 mil / 2 year:

With the recent departures of Ersan Illyasova, Robin Lopez, and Marvin Williams (retired), the Bucks lost most of their bench size. Bobby Portis gives the Bucks another big body within the bench frontcourt. He can not only rebound, but put the ball in the hole at the stretch 4 and 5 spot for the Bucks’ 2nd team.

D.J. Augustin – 21 mil / 3 year:

Having both George Hill and Eric Bledsoe traded away leaves room for Jrue to take a starting spot, as well as D.J. Augustin having a backup guard spot for the Bucks. He provides above average ball handling. He also has the ability to create shots for himself and his teammates in the pick-n-roll game. He averages more points per possession in the P&R than players such as C.J. McCollum, Devin Booker, and Lou Williams, as a bench player.

Bryn Forbes – ????:

Bryn Forbes is coming from the Spurs who have been pretty invested in him until this recent year where he left for the Bucks. During his career in San Antonio, he averaged 8.9 points on 40% 3pt shooting. This is a boost for the bench unit which lost Kyle Korver and Sterling Brown. He can’t provide the same defensive pressure, but he can boost the offense a little more by giving the Bucks a consistent perimeter threat.

Pat Connaughton – 8.3 mil / 2 year:

Pat Connaughton is returning to the Bucks as a key bench player, which he hasn’t had the permanent role for until now. He used to be a recurring bench player that would find minimal time as a role player, but now he is set to have more of an impact this year with Korver and Brown not on the team anymore.

Torrey Craig – ????:

Torrey is a great pick up from the Nuggets. They did not retain their defensive specialist who played decent in the bubble playoffs. He can’t do much besides shoot the occasional corner 3, but he can give the Bucks bench unit some defensive stability, as he can defend the opponents best wings decently.

Toronto Raptors:

Fred VanVleet – 85 mil / 4 year:

Fred VanVleet returns to the Raptors. This is a huge win of a signing for them, as they are able to retain one of their star players that helped carry the team to the playoffs last year. He is coming off his best statistical season. He shot 39% from the 3, as well as 41% from the field. He will be looking to continue from the best year of his career to further provide an anchor for the Raptors offense this year.

Chris Boucher – 13.5 mil / 2 year:

Chris Boucher is a candidate to breakout after finally cracking a spot in the rotation last year. Playing in 62 games, he averaged 13 mins, 6.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1 block per game. He can play the 4 and the 5, and with Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol off the Raptors roster, he is the big that will be behind Aron Baynes. It seems like he will have a bigger role this year and get more playing time as well.

Aron Baynes – 14.3 mil / 2 year:

Aron Baynes is coming off his best NBA season with the Phoenix Suns where he averaged a career 11.5 points while shooting 35% from the 3. This past year he has demonstrated his ability to shoot the 3 ball at a consistent rate, even knocking down nine three-pointers in a game last year. He basically replaces Marc Gasol as the defensive wall, as well as providing the stretch to the perimeter with his 3-ball ability.

DeAndre’ Bembry – 4 mil / 2 year:

This signing isn’t too big as this only adds a little boost to the existing bench unit of Terence Davis, Stanley Johnson, Patrick McCaw, and Matt Thomas. I’m not sure how many minutes Bembry will get, but as we saw in Atlanta, with 20+ minutes he can really fill the stat sheet.

Alex Len – 2.3 mil / 1 year:

I wouldn’t worry too much about this signing unless you see news on him coming into the season. I fully expect Chris Boucher to be behind Aron Baynes on the depth chart, with Alex Len as the 3rd option.

Boston Celtics:

Jeff Teague – ????:

This signing was interesting until seeing that Brad Wanamaker is not part of the team anymore. Then it made sense for Jeff Teague to be the back-up PG to Kemba Walker. Walker is dealing with knee issues. Though it has been unconfirmed if he will be completely ready for tip-off, it seems like these are nagging issues he will continue to deal with. Jeff Teague is interesting in the sense that he could be inputted in the starting lineup when Kemba is affected by his knee. Be on lookout to see where Teague is on the depth chart at the beginning of the season.

Tristan Thompson – 19 mil / 2 year:

Tristan Thompson adds excellent value to the Boston frontcourt due to his ability and size to rebound the ball as well as score from inside. He is coming off a career year last season, averaging 12 pts and 10.1 rebounds per game. He gives Boston a bigger body than Daniel Theis, who was the Celtics’ starter for last season. I definitely can see Thompson starting over Theis, but it is still up in the air because Theis knows their system very well, and big man Robert “Time Lord” Williams played some key playoff minutes as well.

Indiana Pacers:

The Pacers did not make many moves besides drafting Cassius Stanley at 54th, while losing Alize Johnson, Brian Bowen II, and Naz Mitrou-Long who are all on the free agent market right now. They also traded away T.J. Leaf and re-signed Justin Holiday and Jakarr Sampson.

Miami Heat:

Maurice Harkless – 3.6 mil / 1 year:

Maurice Harkless is a great addition to the Miami Heat who just lost Jae Crowder and Derrick Jones Jr. to free agency. Harkless brings a defensive identity to the team who can guard the opponents best player. It’s still unclear to assume that he will replace Crowder in the starting line-up yet. The Heat still have Andre Iguodala, and newly signed Avery Bradley.

Avery Bradley – 11.6 mil / 2 year:

Avery Bradley, like Maurice Harkless brings a defensive identity to the team that already plays very good defense. Bradley gives them another offensive threat that can score from the 3, midrange, and occasionally the paint. It’s still unclear to assume he will start with the departure of Jae Crowder, but it would make sense to move Jimmy to the 3 so Avery can play the 2.

Goran Dragic – 37.4 mil / 2 year:

This is a huge win signing for the Miami Heat as they retain their (playoff) starting PG that performed amazing during their finals run last year. His role will probably not change but this definitely can be interesting to watch, he may not start the year off as their starting PG.

Bam Adebayo – Extension:

This is the Miami Heat’s second winning offseason move, actually probably the first. Bam Adebayo can do everything on the floor and is an insane asset to a team. It was interesting to see that they extended Adebayo to a fat contract without waiting for Giannis Antekoumpo to sign his extension with the Bucks. This really shows they are committed to Adebayo. Nothing much else needs to be said here besides he will be retaining his prior role.

Philadelphia 76ers:

Danny Green * (via trade):

Being a Laker fan, I have to admit Danny Green did not deserve all of the flak and criticism that he got. To be fair, I did negatively talk about him at times when he missed wide open 3s, but his defensive presence on the floor was enough to make up for it at times. People seem to forget about his game tying 3 against the Mavericks or his 28 points against the Clippers at the beginning of the season. He will help the 76ers out a lot on perimeter D, as well as give them a threat from the 3 if he can fix his shot. I did see him working out with Lethal Shooter this off season. He fixed Kentavious Caldwell Pope’s shot as seen in the finals this past year. Maybe he can help Danny Green too?

Seth Curry * (via trade):

This acquisition is a win for the 76ers, as Seth fits in with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid as an outside threat off of Simmons’ playmaking and Embiid’s P&R game. Seth Curry is currently 2nd in NBA history right behind Steve Kerr and a few spots ahead of his brother Steph Curry. Having a perimeter threat like this to help out with Simmons ability to pass the ball will definitely provide positives for the 76ers offense.

Terrance Ferguson/Tony Bradley * (via trade):

These are two other signings that I feel won’t affect much in the team dynamic. I could see Ferguson be the 3rd SG off the bench behind Korkmaz, and Bradley the 3rd C behind Howard.

Dwight Howard – 2.6 mil / 1 year:

This signing made me sad as a Laker fan but happy as a Dwight fan. Coming from the championship team, Dwight Howard should have a little lessened role due to the fact Joel Embiid plays 30+ minutes a game. Dwight is a defensive powerhouse and will provide the ability to rebound and block shots in the 2nd unit.

Brooklyn Nets:

Bruce Brown * (via trade):

His value for the team will not be that fantasy purposeful, but he will be part of the Brooklyn Nets rotation 100%. He provided this quote for the NY Post, “Scoring-wise, that’s KD, Kyrie, we’ve got Caris [LeVert], Joe [Harris]. I think I just come in and bring a dog mentality on the defensive end, and match up with the best offensive player every night”. He is expected to be a defensive dog and mainly work off ball. He states that they have scoring threats already so expect him to be mainly defensively attentive.

Landry Shamet * (via trade):

Landry Shamet will be a perfect part of this team that already has wing shooting and a defensive presence. I’m not sure how he will find a decent and consistent amount of time seeing that both Shamet and Brown who were just acquired are going to fight to get playing time along with Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris Levert, and Kyrie Irving. He apparently has a great relationship with both coach Steve Nash and long-awaited Kevin Durant.

Jeff Green – Veteran’s Minimum:

Jeff Green is onto his next team, and this time he probably has the best chance to win a title. The Nets are favored to win the East with Kyrie Irving assumed fully healthy and Kevin Durant back healthy. He is a consistent bench threat that can attack the rim, rebound, and shoot the 3. He is just a good vet to have in the 2nd unit because you can count on him for consistent production.

Joe Harris – 75 mil / 4 year:

This re-signing was a questionable call due to the size of the contract, but his role on the team remains important. Joe Harris is a sharp shooter and can hit the 3 consistently from game to game. He shot 47.4% from the 3 last year. If he can carry that onto this year where the Brooklyn Nets have even more high priority threats on the floor, then he will be a player that may be open a lot more.

Orlando Magic:

Dwayne Bacon ???? :

The Orlando Magic didn’t really do much this off-season besides losing D.J. Augustin and Wes Iwundu. You can argue that Bacon will basically replace Iwundu in his role last season, but be more offensive orientated than defensive. Losing D.J. Augustine is a bigger blow to this team, and it will be a challenge to see if Cole Anthony can replace him in that role. It’s also good to note that the Magic retained their other free agents in Michael Carter-Williams, Gary Clark, and James Ennis.

Nothing else to see here besides drafting Cole Anthony 15th overall who could take over the newly departed D.J. Augustine in his role for back-up PG behind Markelle Fultz.

Charlotte Hornets:

Gordon Hayward – 120 mil / 4 year:

Gordon Hayward will have a huge role this season as probably one of the highest usage players on the Hornets. Besides Terry Rozier, the biggest impact player that is not a young player is Hayward. He will be looked upon to lead the team but honestly with his track record I wouldn’t be too hopeful.

LaMelo Ball/Vernon Carey Jr – DRAFT PICKS:

I am hyped about LaMelo Ball. He could honestly bust very hard but I am hopeful that he will be able to play 30+ minutes a game and get the opportunity to grow. His playmaking is his best asset, and that will hopefully shine with this team that currently has very little playmaking.

Vernon Carey Jr is an interesting prospect that will give the Hornets a lot of length on the defensive end as well as a big body inside for rebounding. He looks to not be a liability on both ends which in turn will help the Hornets.

Washington Wizards:

Davis Bertans – 80 mil / 5 year :

This is the biggest news that the Wizards have and the best news, as they retain their sharpshooter Davis Bertans. This dude can launch it from literally anywhere on the floor, and I don’t see that stopping at all with John Wall coming back. In fact, it should put him in better spots with more open looks on the floor. I don’t think he’ll have the same volume just because Wall can take away 10-15 shots or opportunities a night, but Bertans could have a good shooting % year.

Robin Lopez/Raul Neto:

These two are minimal signings for the Wizards, as they provide back-up for the PG and C roles respectively. The Wizards will probably have Neto as the 3rd string PG behind newly drafted Deni Avdija, and Lopez as back-up to Thomas Bryant.

Chicago Bulls:

Garrett Temple – 5 mil / 1 year:

He won’t have that big of an impact on this roster but I do think he will be playing a back-up guard role. He will be coming off the bench behind the likes of Coby White, Zach Lavine, and Otto Porter Jr.

New York Knicks:

Alec Burks/Austin Rivers:

This team is hard to read right now because of their veteran pick ups while their main goal should be to grow their draft prospects. They have many guards on this team already so I hope the main goal was to get people to mentor them. Dennis Smith Jr, Frank Ntilikina, R.J. Barrett, and even Knox sometimes plays the 2. Those 3 guards along with newly drafted Obi Toppin, Julius Randle, and Mitchelle Robinson, shape out their entire young core.

Nerlens Noel – 5 mil / 1 year:

I fully expect Nerlens Noel to back-up Mitchell Robinson at the C position this year. If Taj ends up running the back-up 5, you will probably see Noel get no minutes but I don’t expect that to happen.

Detroit Pistons:

Jerami Grant – 60 mil / 3 year:

The Pistons had a very interesting off-season with the signings of Grant for a whooping 60 mil, along with signing/accumulating more big men in the process. I fully expect Jerami to play a big role on this Detroit team, seeing that his playoff performance was more than what anyone expected. If he can develop his 3 ball to go down more consistently, I believe he will be a lot more impactful fantasy wise.

Mason Plumlee/Jahlil Okafor:

These two bigs will be competing for the starting spot unless Mason gets it outright from the get go. I do not think that John Henson is in contention for this spot and will be the 3rd string big on the depth chart. One thing to note is that Blake Griffin was in trade talks before and if he were to go, I assume Sekou Doumbouya and Jerami would both start.

Josh Jackson – ????:

Not sure how relevant he will be fantasy wise but he might have a role as a back-up SF.

Atlanta Hawks:

Danilo Gallinari – 61.5 mil / 3 year :

Danilo Gallinari was just confirmed to come off the bench behind PF John Collins. He took a huge pay day, (for him in my opinion) over his words in the beginning of the offseason. He stated that he already got paid in the past, he’s looking for a ring now. Next thing you know, he signs with the Hawks for a great deal of money to be coming off the bench. Not sure how fantasy relevant he will be.

Rajon Rondo – 15 mil / 2 year:

This is a great signing for the Hawks, hopefully allowing veteran Rajon Rondo the ability to form Trae Young into an even better playmaker than he is right now. Rajon can definitely help Trae with a more hounding defensive style, but you can say that Young’s offensive abilities are a better asset to expend energy on than his defense. I assume Rondo will be taking back-up PG responsibilities behind Trae Young.

Bogdan Bogdanovic- 72 mil / 4 year:

This is a huge dunk of a signing from them, as they were able to pull Bogdan Bogdanovic away from the Kings. He will likely be playing a 6th man role for the Hawks this season, giving them a great offensive boost off the bench. I will want to see how they manage Bogdanovic relative to Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter, and De’Andre Hunter.

Kris Dunn – 10 mil / 2 year:

Kris Dunn should have a spot in this rotation, maybe the back-up SG to Kevin Huerter? His role remains unknown but I assume they wouldn’t have made this signing for nothing.

Cleveland Cavaliers:

Javale McGee/Damian Dotson:

Javale McGee and Damian Dotson are coming from the Lakers and Knicks, but their roles on this team do not seem at all that big fantasy wise. Maybe Damian is the back-up SG and Javale is the back-up C to Andre Drummond?
