What’s up Karma Nation! Welcome to another edition of the Top GPP plays article I will be filling in for Bales’ today as he is moving. In this article, I will outline my favorite NBA GPP plays for today’s games. If you want all of my core plays along with our staff’s Final Thoughts article and access to our Discord, click here.
Guards
Coby White
After starting just one game for the Bulls last season, White has really solidified himself as a consistent scorer in the starting lineup. He’s increased his production this season averaging 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists. We saw him transition from just a scorer averaging 13 points and 2 assists last season to the all-around PG he is today. The Bulls have Lauri Markkean back and it looks like they could be returning Tomas Satoransky as well. This should keep ownership way down on White, especially after that dud he put up last week.
White gets a great matchup against the Rockets tonight. The Rockets seem to slow the pace down and play better defense without James Harden but it is a very small sample size, as well as, the two games being against the Spurs. They are a slow bad offensive team. With Victor Oladipo joining the team that also means the best defensive player for the Rockets will get trying to lock up Zach Lavine. Which should give more looks and usage to Coby White. He has seen at least a 20% usage rate in every game but two this season.
Bigs
Victor Oladipo
Oladipo has looked to make strides since coming back from his devastating knee injury two seasons ago. He seemed like he was getting there last season, but this season he has really jumped off. In the month of January, Oladipo never fell under a 28% usage rate. He is coming into a Rockets situation without John Wall, so his usage rate should be able to maintain similar levels. He also topped 40 fantasy points in two out of five of those games. He was plagued with awful shooting in those games. S,o if he is able to shoot decently well he should be easily able to top 40 fantasy points again.
He gets a great matchup against the Bulls. They play at the second-highest pace and the 4th worst defensive efficiency in the league. This game should end up very high scoring if the Rockets can find their shot. The Bulls also give up the 5th most points to SGs, third-most 3 pointers, and the second-most steals. All categories that will help Oladipo reach a ceiling game. Since this is his first game on the team I worry about him in cash games but in GPPs he is one of my favorite plays.
