Guards
Luke Kennard
Kennard dealt with injuries last season, playing only 28 games for the Detroit Pistons. He continued to progress, posting career-high averages in points (15.8), rebounds (3.5), assists (4.1), and minutes (32.9) per game. Overall, Kennard averaged a healthy 28.1 DK points per contest.
The Los Angeles Clippers essentially traded Landry Shamet for Kennard in a three-team trade during the NBA Draft. Shamet quietly played a major role in the Los Angeles rotation, averaging 27.4 minutes per game last season. Kennard is likely to act as “instant offense” off the bench, as he shot 39.9% from deep and 89.3% from the line while recording a career-high 54.8% eFG percentage last season. His role in the rotation is a bit of an unknown early in the season, although he should see similar minutes to Shamet after Los Angeles signed him to a $64 million extension yesterday. There are only two games tonight, limiting the low-owned options, and Kennard comes with tremendous scoring upside for his price. He’s also currently the eighth-best value on the slate, per our NBA projections model.
