Jakob Poeltl
Poeltl has enjoyed a breakout season for the San Antonio Spurs. Through 58 games, he’s averaging 8.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks, (25.8 fantasy points) in 26.2 minutes per game. Poeltl’s seen increased minutes in recent games, as he’s averaging 34.9 fantasy points in 29.6 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He’s posted 30+ fantasy points in each of his last 5 contests, including a 45.25 fantasy point performance against the Detroit Pistons.
Poeltl gets an elite matchup against the Washington Wizards tonight. They lead the NBA in pace while ranking 15th in defensive efficiency this season. Washington also features one of the worst defenses in the league against opposing centers. Poeltl’s usage rating tends to fluctuate quite a bit, generally ranking from roughly 10-20%. He’s a double-double threat on a nightly basis with the ability to contribute in other categories, as well. Poeltl’s expected to play roughly 30 minutes in this game, giving him ample opportunity to find his ceiling. He’ll garner some ownership because of the matchup, but his position will keep it relatively low compared to where it should be. Poeltl’s an elite tournament option on this slate tonight.
