Welcome to another edition of Bales’ Top GPP play. In this article, I will outline my favorite NBA GPP play for today’s games. If you want all of my core plays along with our staff’s Final Thoughts articles and access to our Discord, click here.
Karl-Anthony Towns
Towns’ seen mixed results through only 21 games this season. He’s averaging 23.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.6 blocks (47.8 fantasy points) in 33.1 minutes per game. Towns’ performed well since the All-Star break, though, averaging 49.5 fantasy points in 34.5 minutes per game. He’s quietly posted 50+ fantasy points in 3 of his last 4 games, including 69.5 and 60 fantasy point performances.
Towns gets an intriguing matchup against the Phoenix Suns tonight. They only rank 28th in the NBA in pace, while also ranking eighth in defensive efficiency. Phoenix has seen mixed results against centers this season, though. Towns posted 69.5 fantasy points against them in a near triple-double last night. He saw a 35% usage rating in that game, and he could see similar usage after the Minnesota Wolves won by 4 points last night. Towns is also expected to find minutes in the mid-30s once again tonight. He’ll continue to go overlooked with several other solid high-priced options on this slate. Although I’m not expecting another 70 fantasy point performance from Towns tonight, he’s far too cheap for his upside, especially if he garners single-digit ownership.
