Dennis Smith Jr.
Smith’s found extended minutes with the Detroit Pistons, although they’re still limited overall. Through 8 games, he’s averaging 6.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals (17.1 fantasy points) in 17.5 minutes per game with Detroit. Smith’s played 18+ minutes in 3 of his last 4 games, scoring 23+ fantasy points in each contest. He’s also flashed upside, scoring 31.75 fantasy points in 26 minutes in his last game.
Smith gets an elite matchup against the Sacramento Kings tonight. They rank ninth in the NBA in pace and last in defensive efficiency this season. Most importantly, Sacramento features one of the worst defenses in the NBA against opposing guards. Smith generally finds usage from 20-25%, although it has been as high as 33% this season. With Saben Lee finding success in the lineup, Smith isn’t a player that is locked into major minutes, although he’s expected to play roughly 25 tonight. He’s an outstanding per-minute player in a great matchup, but Detroit’s rotation and his rising price tag will keep him lower-owned tonight. He’s an outstanding tournament option.
