Welcome to another edition of Bales’ Top GPP play. In this article, I will outline my favorite NBA GPP play for today’s games. If you want all of my core plays along with our staff’s Final Thoughts article and access to our Discord, click here.
T.J. McConnell
McConnell’s performed well when given the minutes this season. He’s averaging 5.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.7 steals (23.4 fantasy points) in only 23.6 minutes per game. McConnell’s caught fire recently, as well, averaging 31.5 fantasy points in 34.2 minutes per game over the last 10 days. Overall, he’s scored 28+ fantasy points in 7 of his last 9 contests, including a trio with 37+ fantasy points.
McConnell gets an interesting matchup against the Golden State Warriors tonight. They currently rank second in the NBA in pace and fourth in defensive efficiency. With that being said, McConnell’s usage rating generally sits around or below 15%. He’s a player that relies more on peripheral stats than points, meaning he’ll benefit from the pace without taking a significant hit from Golden State’s defense. He’s played 28+ minutes in 4 consecutive games, and that’s expected to be the case once again tonight. With Dejounte Murray and Saben Lee garnering plenty of ownership tonight, McConnell is a player that is likely to go overlooked. He’s far too cheap for his recent production, though.
