Kevon Looney
Looney’s seen mixed results in limited minutes for the Golden State Warriors this season. Through 20 games, he’s averaging 3.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists (12.5 fantasy points) in only 14.4 minutes per game. Looney’s only played 20+ minutes twice this season, averaging 4.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 block in roughly 22 minutes per game. He saw 23 minutes in his last game, though, scoring 23.5 fantasy points against the Detroit Pistons.
Looney gets a tough matchup against the Boston Celtics tonight. Boston currently ranks 18th in the NBA in pace and 13th in defensive efficiency. They’ve also found success against the center throughout the season. With that being said, Looney will be forced into a bigger role than he’s seen this season with James Wiseman, Marquese Chriss, and Alen Smailagic all out. He’s expected to find 20-25 minutes for an absurdly low price tag. He doesn’t boast an elite usage rating, but he posted a 6/6/4/0/2 line against Detroit with only a 6% usage rating. It’ll be nearly impossible for it to drop below that, although it could raise to double-digits. He’s a versatile player that could go overlooked because of the matchup, but he makes an outstanding salary relief option in tournaments on this slate.
