NBA DFS 3/8/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Brandon Ingram

Many people will be on Trae Young as their top play tonight, but I’m going to side with Ingram against the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas has really struggled defensively since the Kyrie Irving trade — their best defender is Maxi Kleber and he’s been out causing them to slip to bottom-ten in defensive rating as a team. They’re also playing a bit faster with Irving there, and Ingram can be a match-up nightmare for their wing defenders. He’s been aggressive offensively since returning from injury, averaging over 15 shots per game and a 30% usage rate. We have Ingram rating as a top value on both FanDuel and DraftKings tonight making him a must-play for me in cash game formats.

Josh Giddey

Giddey will be no secret tonight, but is one of the top-overall options with both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams out for OKC. We know that he’s typically a high-floor player because of his ability to contribute across the board — and he should see an even higher ceiling tonight with more offensive opportunity available. His usage rate rises with these two off the floor as well as his fantasy point per minute numbers. He’s been putting up monster fantasy numbers over the last two weeks, and should clearly be the lead-man for the Thunder on Wednesday. He is still priced as-if SGA is playing in my opinion, and I like him in all formats tonight.

Value Plays

Cam Reddish + OKC Thunder

We have plenty of value on Wednesday night, starting with our friend Cam Reddish. Reddish has been a key value for over a week now with Anfernee Simons out — he will miss again tonight for the Blazers. He’s been playing big minutes as a starter, and his 0.75 fantasy point per minute mark will play well in another 30+ minutes of action. As for the Thunder, we will be locking in multiple players with no Williams or SGA including some of the cheap guys stepping into the starting lineup. Isaiah Joe will step into the lineup for Gilgeous-Alexander, and he’s priced below $5,000 on DK. Aaron Wiggins will start for Williams again, and he is just $500 off the minimum salary. Overall these guys are great cash game values, but can always be faded in GPPs especially if you already have one Thunder piece. I would consider running back OKC with some PHX guys in tournaments — particularly Kevin Durant who should come in low-owned.
