Important Notes
Welcome to my Stacks article specifically designed for StatHero! This will be the case on Fridays moving forward. Each of my stacks will outline three players on teams that I’m looking to use on this slate. There will be a fourth player that needs to be added to your StatHero stack, though, as each stack gets a total of four players from one team.
There is also a “1st Round Bonus Wildcard” player that needs to be selected. These Wildcards are generally some of the best players available on the slate. Ultimately, your StatHero team will feature four players from one team with a bonus player.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks rank 22nd and first in the NBA in pace, respectively. Oklahoma City also ranks 10th in the league in offensive rating, while Milwaukee leads the NBA in defensive rating. The Thunder are +10.5 point underdogs in a game set at 230.5 points, but they still own an implied team total of 110 points tonight.
Chris Paul
Chris Paul has found plenty of success since the All Star Break. Since then, he’s averaging 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.0 steal in 32.0 minutes per game. Paul also flashed triple-double upside over that span. He only owns a 23% usage rating this season, but is versatile to make up for the lack of usage in other ways. Paul will continue to see 30+ minutes tonight, and he’s one of the safest options for Oklahoma City.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a bit more of a boom or bust option. He’s coming off of a bad game, but is still averaging 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.0 block in 35.4 minutes per game since the All Star Break. Gilgeous-Alexander is an efficient scorer, who boasts tremendous versatility. He’ll see big minutes tonight, and performed well in his only matchup against Milwaukee this season.
Steven Adams
Steven Adams is another player that has caught fire since the All Star Break. Over his last 4 games, he’s averaging 17.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 block, and 2.0 steals in only 28.6 minutes per game. Adams is expected to see similar minutes tonight, but he has proven that he boasts tremendous double-double potential, even in limited minutes. Adams’ ability to contribute in each of the five categories is rare for a big man, as well, giving him added upside.
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers currently rank third and 21st in the NBA in pace this season. New Orleans only ranks 15th in the league in offensive rating, while Cleveland ranks 29th in defensive rating. The Pelicans are -12.5 point favorites in a game set at 237 points, and they possess the highest implied team total on the slate at 124.8 points.
Jrue Holiday
Jrue Holiday struggled in his last game, but was playing at a high level prior to that. Since the All Star Break, he’s averaging 18.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 11.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in 35.5 minutes per game. Holiday was playing well prior to the break, as well. He’s a player that boasts triple-double upside when given the minutes. He’s expected to see 30+ minutes in this game, making him a high upside option for the Pelicans.
Brandon Ingram
Brandon Ingram was recently dealing with an injury, but he looked fully healthy in his last game. He scored 34 points with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 37 minutes in that game. Ingram boasts the second highest usage rating (28.5%) on the team, and will continue to see plenty of scoring opportunities. He’s expected to play full minutes tonight, and comes with elite upside against one of the worst defenses in the NBA.
Zion Williamson
Zion Williamson continues to make a consistent option for New Orleans. He’s averaging 27.3 pointts, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 31.5 minutes per game since the All Star Break. Williamson leads the Pelicans with a 31.1% usage rating, while scoring at an outstanding rate for them. He’ll continue to get better as he plays more at the professional level. Williamson will see 30+ minutes tonight, and he’s a must start in a New Orleans stack.
