What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…
Building Blocks
Anthony Edwards
Edwards is primed for a massive close to the season, and we can start by locking him into our DFS lineups on Friday night. Despite adding Mike Conley, Edwards is cleared for take-off here with D’Angelo Russell out of town and Karl-Anthony Towns still out due to injury. HIs usage rate with those two off the floor sits in the mid-30’s while this is one of the most attractive games on the slate with a huge 240.5 O/U. Charlotte plays fast, and is one of the worst defensive teams in basketball. HIs fantasy point per minute numbers approach 1.4 with Towns/Russell off the court and there is a legitimate chance — barring Giannis is out — that Edwards is the highest scorer on tonight’s slate. I love him in all formats.
Alperen Sengun
Sengun has struggled recently, but much like Domantas Sabonis yesterday you can easily make the case that he is fresh coming out of the All-Star break and can return to his earlier season form as the season winds down. He’s been great overall this season, and the offense should entirely work through him tonight with both Kevin Porter and Jalen Green out for Houston. He leads the active players in both usage rate and point per minute production — and it’s not that bad of a match-up against the Warriors who could be without Draymond Green on Friday. We have him as the highest-projected owned player tonight, so I think starting cash game builds with him makes sense. He isn’t a must play for me in GPPs at that pOWN%, but for my main team he will be the first player plugged in on all sites.
Value Plays
TyTy Washington
I expect Houston to start Washington at PG tonight, after Daishen NIix caught a DNP prior to the All-Star break. I’m not sure what we really are getting in Washington, but if he plays close to 30 minutes he will likely beat value with all of these guys out for Houston. He has the tendency to be aggressive trying to score the ball, and as long as he’s confirmed starting he will be in my main lineup. Expect the young guys to get more run for the Rockets as the season winds down.
Draymond Green was officially listed as questionable to play tonight — I could see him missing given that it’s a back-to-back so I will likely be adding Jonathan Kuminga to my top value plays.
