NBA DFS 1/20/21 – Ben’s Building Blocks

Guard

Victor Oladipo- I was all over Dipo in his first game for the Rockets, and will be going back to the well tonight after a 54 DK point debut. The matchup tonight is much tougher, but the role change is what was important. It’s clear that he will dominate this offense when John Wall is off the floor, and Wall is out again tonight. Oladipo led the team with a monster 43% usage rate and fired 23 shots, by far his highest mark this season. He also looked great PNR-wise with Christian Wood for it being his first game alongside him. There’s nothing stopping him from being the clear number one on this offense right now and I think a $300 price increase was too little.

Forward

Jarred Vanderbilt- Vanderbilt as been one of my favorite players to watch this season, and I’m excited he’s been able to get some run in Minnesota. He got his first career start in the Wolves last game resulting in 29 DK point in 29 minutes. Those minutes were by far a season-high, and Karl-Anthony Towns and Juancho Hernangomez are both out again tonight. Ryan Saunders gushed about Vandy to the media after that game, and it appears he has earned a second start. He has been slightly above a point per minute producer this season, and I love that his price stayed below $5,000.

Center

Nikola Vucevic- Vuc is set to be one of the highest-owned players on tonight’s slate, but it’s chalk I’m willing to eat. For starters, he’s coming off two games in which he posted 69.5 and 49 DK points, yet is priced at just $8,600 against the Wolves. Steve Clifford has preached how he wants the offense to run through Vuc, and that has held true as he leads the team in touches per game (80) by a wide margin over the last seven days. Minnesota is also awful defensively, and have struggled to contain big men all season.

Note: We just got HUGE news that the POR/MEM game is PPD tonight, which shakes up the entire slate. This was going to be the highest-owned game by far, and presents us with another opportunity to capitalize on people that overthink things or just don’t know how to react to news. Stay tuned to discord and Final Thoughts for where I end up on this slate.
